Oh well, more resources to throw at Devon Benjamin!!
-
To be fair, I wouldn't have recruited a NS kid before this either.
-
A bit surprising imo. Calicut had Texas as his favorite in the spring and I had heard the official visit went very well over the weekend. Georgia remains tough to beat and North Shore remains unfriendly to Texas.
-
When the door closes on one recruit, it can open the doors to other recruits. The staff will keep evaluating and land the guys they want.
-
I’m okay with this. He can “chace da bag” elsewhere.

Some Texas fans are not built for this. We are not recruiting against TCU, K state, Baylor's of the world. We competing with programs that have won National championships in the last few years who have elite staffs too.... Gonna win some and lose some..... Sark will get his.
-
All these North Shore guys that have gone other places and largely flamed out, all while Corey Redding remains the best playing in North Shore history. Someone needs to change the narrative over there.
-
At this point I would not recruit a single North Shore kid.
-
Kinda wish we’d brought the Melvin guy in last week. But Sark has my trust. Go find someone.
-
This is big boy SEC recruiting.... And North Shore has not been good to us... Onward

North Shore hates us

Hearing North Shore safety Chace Calicut may be cutting Georgia's way.

Honestly, never heard of them before Beau was offered by Texas. But I could say the same thing about Christian Clark and OT Aaron Thomas, who both went to the local high school a mile away from me ... never heard of them until Texas was mentioned. Heck I didn't even know who Brock Purdy was until after he played against us at Iowa State (he was from Gilbert, about 20 miles of urban sprawl from me). Arizona produces the occasional excellent player (Bijan, Kelee Ringo, Mark Andrews come to mind ... QBs Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler are in the NFL now, Dylan Raiola played a year at one of the Chandler schools) but the 2026 class has zero four stars (247) or three four stars (247 Composite) this year and other than the three guys I remember Texas offering (CB Hamiel, Thomas and Jandreau) I don't recognize anyone else. -

Jay's cousin played TE for SMU and Utah and is now an OT in the NFL. I took him on a recruiting visit to Lousiana Tech when he was still in high school. His other cousin was a RB at SDSU. He also had a cousin who played college basketball, iirc. I believe Jay's dad played in the NFL as well. Very talented family and some big ol' boys.
