That was a sketchy play and throw. Sam still has the wheels and the grit!
-
Really hoping he makes the 53. If not he will go to practice squad if unclaimed. However, if he did get claimed I was thinking of teams he could potentially land with and compete for playing time. Its probably a long shot but Three teams that stand out as potential landing spots throughout the year where he could go in as a #2 and possibly compete for the #1 job in the case of an injury are 1. Saints (Ratter, Shough, Haener) 2. Jaguars (Lawrence, Nick Mullens, John Wolford) 3. Titans (Cam Ward, Brendan Allen, Trevor Siemian) Always rooting for Sam!

Receivers know they will flourish and be on NFL radars immediately with Steve Sarkisian and Texas. Sark locks in his QBs early and builds talent around them. When was the last time Texas had a better recruiting class at WR than this freshman class with McCutcheon, Lockett, Ffrench, Terry III to go with tight ends Emaree Winston and Nick Townsend? If a receiver wants to compete for an sec title, playoffs and be in an offense for a coach who has led multiple Heisman trophy winners, Texas is the place to be. -

It was a nice tease, a mediocre appetizer that was brought to your table as a complimentary dish that the restaurant is promoting - you can take it or leave it - but it turns on your parasympathetic nervous system that kicks off that familiar feeling: you are hungry, possibly even starving, for the main course -
I do wonder what things would look like had Bond not had his off field issues prior to the draft. Texas could've been looking at sending Worthy & Mitchell as 1st & 2nd rounders and then Golden & Bond as 1st & 2nd rounders in back to back seasons.

I know you’re talking specifically Sark-recruited WRs, but Sark did have a hand in shaping AD Mitchell who is rapidly ascending in NFL circles. -

It’s not shade. There’s a truth to what you write. But you’re also neglecting the number of draft picks the last two years, two first rounders and a second. The trend line for Texas is clearly moving in the right direction and that is something recruits look at, too. -

My favorite, by far, was Randy McEachern! Him and Earl in the backfield. -

I've been following Longhorns football since 1968, including some years as an undergrad and graduate student. Banks was so good that many games I didn't notice him at all. I remember some instances (thankfully rare) where the Texas QBs had to play under siege because the OTs were having a bad day or just had deficiencies. Banks was great for the Longhorns and he came to the team just when his talent was needed. Best wishes for his future.

Being a Father to a Daughter myself, I was OK until Coach Corso's wife and daughter came onscreen. I sent the clip to my Daughter (BS UT '17) and told her about my reaction. She said she typically only tuned in every week just in time to see Corso's schtick and wondered how many millions had the same approach to the show. One week until Columbus and Hook 'Em!

I'm STILL bothered by the memory of Colt being injured and Mack brought Gilbert in after getting him very little PT during the season. And still, Gilbert almost pulled it off against that Bama defense. Mack wanted the Heisman for Colt a little too much. He played Colt and built his stats at the expense of game experience for Garrett Gilbert. So when the Longhorns needed a QB2 they brought in a Freshman who had spent the season carrying a clipboard. Oh, well... One more week to Columbus and Hook 'Em!!!
