  1. Past hour
  2. Our OL is probably better than Clemson’s too
  3. This, Klubnik ran a sub 23 200m his junior year. He can flat out go. Arch is not that type of runner at all. LSU brought the house with the Weeks brothers and Perkins. Arch would have had a lot of problems if we had played LSU.
  4. He’s in the third category for now, but he’s not Franklin. You need to get Urban Meyer out of that top category. What happened when he went pro?
  5. I know this is Sark’s offense and he’s the QB whisperer, but Milwee is still the QB coach. At what point does he get put on the hot seat? Quinn’s footwork seemed to regress over the years, and coming into this game I actually said I loved Arch’s feet. But his mechanics were rough, and the footwork was the most alarming part. The sidearm stuff doesn’t bother me — plenty of great QBs throw like that — but the rushed mechanics did. Maybe it was just the speed of the game and he’ll settle in, but to me this is the key to the season. Arch has to slow down, clean up the footwork, and hit the easy throws.
  6. Not sure who all was a culture fit but one player in the portal that would make defenses pay attention every play was Zachariah Branch. It would have been fun to watch Branch and Wingo play together. My main concern for this season was the lack of explosive playmakers on offense. I think Jack Endries will be good at TE… and maybe Livingstone will get more comfortable after the nice TD catch yesterday.
  7. Sark’s gameplan was as bad as Arch’s execution of it. Where was the creativity? I’m baffled.
  8. Next three games will look better because of who they are playing. It will be a while before they play somebody with a pulse. Sark said he told Arch to be Arch. I don’t know Arch personally, but I think he would have liked to run more. Sark said after the game that Arch is better when he gets hit, so running him would have helped with that. Sark seems intent on proving his offensive line is too physical for anyone to handle. It never seems to enter his head that he can’t just line up everyone and do smash mouth football against everyone. Red zone issues and penalties have carried over from last year. Again, it will look better over the next three games because of who they are playing.
  9. We’ll agree to disagree then. Klubnik is better at avoiding pressure at this stage and he is really fast.
  10. I didn’t expect UTSA arch, but throwing 90 mph fastballs at the receivers feet is inexcusable no? Too many easy throws that were missed and missed badly. Not what you’d expect out of a guy with 3 years in the system
  11. I don’t think Arch would have been sacked by LSU any more times than Klubnik, he’s just as mobile. He might have thrown a lot more errant passes and been picked off more. But imo, Arch did a pretty good job avoiding sacks
  12. My thoughts: DBs - Until we play a seasoned QB, we don't really know if our DBs have gelled and their communication is comparable to last year. OSU was protecting Sayin. He wasn't asked to scan the middle of the field and make a decision. LBs - Seemed assignment sound to me. I think we have a good group that's only going to get better. DLs - Very good overall against the runs. Didn't step up on goal line a short yardage situations but perhaps we've been a little spoiled from last year. I like our DTs and I think they are only going to get better as the coaching staff figures out the right combinations. EDGEs- I'm not sure. Sayin did very little dropping back and scanning the field. I'm going to assume we have a very good pass rush though. OSU pretty much conceded that to us via their scheme. Offensive Line - I am thrilled with our run game in general but as usual, once we are in obvious short yardage situations, something happens and I am baffled. Sark needs a short yardage consultant. RBs - Very impressive. Other teams aren't going to have the same defensive back field OSU had and are going to be forced to cheat their way up to the line of scrimmage. That will play into Arch's strengths. WRs TEs - I was surprised how little they got opened, but again, OSU's defensive backs are the strength of the team. So I'm not sure how I feel yet. I'm excited about Livingston though. Wingo needs to grow a little. QB - Ugh. IMO, Quinn Ewers had one strength and only one strength - hitting receivers in stride with short passes. Arch is inaccurate and puts way too much mustard on his short throws. He needs to calm the eff down and watch some film on Ewers. I'm not saying Ewers was a great QB (he had zero pocket presence, zero ability to improvise and couldn't throw a deep ball) but Arch HAS to improve on those short passes Sark designs to scheme WRs open. If he doesn't do that, we are going to get behind the chains way to often. I simply don't know what to think of Arch yet. I'm anywhere from "He'll learn from this and become a good QB" to "I hope KJ Lacy matures fast." I'm just shocked.
  13. The Horns defeated No. 12 Creighton 3-0 to open the season.
  14. No. 5 Texas Volleyball vs. No. 8 Wisconsin Sunday, Aug. 31 – 1 pm CT Kohl Center | Madison, Wisc. TV: Big Ten Network Texas and Wisconsin will meet for the 12th time with the Longhorns winning the last matchup, 3-1, last September at the State Farm College Volleyball Showcase. Texas has a three-match win streak against the Badgers, including a 3-1 win at the 2023 NCAA National Semifinal. PRESEASON RANKINGS Texas begins the 2025 season as the No. 5 ranked team in the AVCA Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Longhorns have been ranked in both the top five in 19 of the past 21 seasons and the top 10 in 20 of the last 21 preseason rankings. Texas, who was picked second in the SEC Coaches' Poll, is one of five SEC teams in the top-25 as Kentucky checks in at No. 7, Texas A&M at No. 9, Florida came in at No. 16, and Missouri is ranked 17th. The season features 11 preseason top 25 teams, including No. 6 Stanford in the home opener at Moody Center on Sept. 6. ALL-SEC LONGHORNS Torrey Stafford and Emma Halter were both named to the All-SEC First Team, tied for the second-most selections with LSU and Texas A&M. Kentucky led the league with four selections. ON STAFFORD WATCH Torrey Stafford, a 2024 AVCA First Team All-American at Pitt, was named to the 2025 AVCA National Player of the Year Watch List in early July. Stafford is one of 30 athletes on the preseason watch list. Stafford was an AVCA National Player of the Year Semifinalist in 2024 and was also an All-ACC First Team member.
  15. What’s concerning to me and probably others is how many times have we heard either Sark and staff were out coached, the other team was better prepared, or the other team’s game plan was better. I’m not saying Sark isn’t the guy to bring us to the top, but yesterday, Georgia last year, both semifinal games may be the ceiling. He wasn’t a head coach long enough at any other stops to make a determination. I can tell you I don’t like hearing we were out coached, other team was better prepared, or there game plan was better. I guess at least they aren’t calling us soft anymore.
  16. Honestly Arch tried multiple times and missed. I think he was just hyped up and gripping the ball tight yesterday
  17. Didn't mean any disrespect.. I actually completely agree with your categorization coaches.. very well thought out. I'm just saying we as fans jump to labelling coaches and players at that time, when things change. Sark is on a rapid trajectory now, making it that much more difficult. If you asked the same question 2 years ago after 5-7.. what would people say? Is he not the same dude 2 years later with a playoff team in 2 straight years? I'm not sold that he is the next savior either, but he's not a finished product. Let's look at your 3rd category from a football standpoint, which could be broken down to more subcategories. Patterson, Gundy, Peterson (long time well regarded smart coaches that have maximized non-blue blood powers.. never had chance to coach at the highest levels with the best talent).. what would happen if they went to an LSU or Bama like a Nick Saban? Could drastically change how you perceive them. Strong - bust at Texas, bust at USF (basically the same category as Tom Herman, probably the only one that doesn't belong in the same caliber of coach with the other guys really) Riley - born on 3rd base, QB scheme savant, not a great coach at 2 blue bloods Leach - offensive scheme savant, had a maximal ceiling as a HC given results at Tech and MSU Kelly, Beamer - Solid coaches, Beamer never got over the hump while VT was relevant, Kelly hasn't yet at 2 historic programs either.. we'll see if he can eventually get enough talent ala Mack Brown Kiffin - like Sark in age and ability to win in the SEC, but without the trajectory.
  18. Do you know Sabans history at Michigan St., LSU, and Bama? Do you know he’s won over 80% of the college games he coached? Turned them all around and made them into contenders. Won titles with multiple schools and sustained excellence at the one place he made home. He left the NFL because it’s a different game. He’s a college coach and he realized that. You do know that Strong coached before he came to UT right? This wasn’t his first gig. He was on his way to making Louisville into what Patterson made TCU to be, winning over 70% of his games and going 3-1 in bowl games. His mistake was thinking he’s a Gifted & Talented coach when he’s not. Shoulder have stayed at Louisville and became a legend like Patterson and Gundy.
  19. James Franklin is the most obvious answer. Other options include Brian Kelly, Marcus Freeman, Dan Lanning, and 2019-2023 Ryan Day.
  20. I’m happy with our progress. He’s gotten us back faster than Mack. I’ll reassess after the season.
  21. Let me stop you on Klubnik. That dude ran for his life from pressure. LSU came after him constantly with blitzes from all over. Arch, OTOH, just flat missed guys on several occasions. Arch would have been sacked by LSU so many times it wouldn’t have been funny. Clemson had no run game and their Oline isn’t anything special. Just keeping it real.
  22. Personally I wasn’t expecting that, what I wasn’t expecting was missing easy throws. I think Sark did him no favors with his play calling is my biggest issue, it’s the same problems that stall the offense in general and in the redzone regardless if it was Thompson Card Quinn and now Arch.
  23. It’s truly a big season for Sark, with the understanding you appreciate what he has done at Texas The place you never want to be as a fan in analysis of a program is “the players change, but the results and issues are the same” Then there is only one answer to your main question.
