Oh what could have been for Edwin Simmons and Marcus Dupree... Last I recall, Simmons was selling Pontiacs in Austin and Dupree was driving 18-wheelers back in his hometown of Philadelphia, Mississippi. Lots of memories there..saw Shay Holle's Dad Eric for a moment. This game was before the greed settled in and the Longhorn Band sat at the 20 yard line in the stands... before they were forced to move to folding chairs at field level in the north end zone. That game is really special when both teams are in the Top 10.

Sooner legend Gerald McCoy in Austin chirping
Jc Dobbs replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I've forgotten this "sooner legend," but was he one of their recruits from the Lone Star State? Seem to recall he was a DL but not much else. Now I can forget about him all over again. Finally, I remember an African American friend of mine from our days in graduate school at UT using the term "ashy" in a very unflattering way towards caucasian people...was Sooner Dude insulting the surroundings at DKR? Thanks, Gerry! Along with all the other OTF fans... your work is appreciated and enjoyed! -

Late Night Thoughts (Texas Baseball Yap Session)

There was a lot more i missed on this message regarding the hitting situation, but we already know about that I don't feel like singling guys out right now. Only thing I will say is you can leave as many guys as we did on base all season and expect to come out on top. -
Can't sleep much after the game last night. Although this was such a disappointing way to end the season and the past couple of weeks have been frustrating to say the least, I am still proud of the guys for doing what they did in the regular season. This year was supposed to be a rebuild year and we were supposed to a middle-of-the-pack SEC team and probably end up a 2/3 seed in someone's regional. This team ended up exceeding pre season expectations and went on an amazing run for most of the season and brought us a regular season SEC title. Y'all can disagree with me if y'all want, but I think with how much emotion there was in the A&M series, that series alone emotionally drained the team going into Arkansas and I think that Arkansas series really messed up some of the players confidence moving forward. The other big reason I feel we had the late season slump was Jared Spencer getting injured. Losing him caused an identity crisis for our pitching rotation and really showed the lack of depth we had in the bullpen. With all that being said, what Schloss was able to accomplish with a squad that was not the most talented and straight up not the best baseball players is amazing and shows how bright the future is with this. We will get better every year from here, we have an amazing recruiting class coming in and have no doubt the NIL backing for the portal will be there. Some quick personal superlatives and would love to hear y'alls: Team MVP: Rylan Galvan / Dylan Volantis Best Game: Game 2 vs LSU Best single game performance (Batting): Casey Borba vs Kansas State 2 H, 2 HR, 8 RBI / Kimble Schuessler vs Auburn (Game 3) 3 H, 1 2B, 2 HR, 8 RBI Best single game performance (Pitching): Jared Spencer vs Georgia (Game 1) W, 7.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 11 K, 111 Pitches Alright thats it, lets hope softball can finish the job and bring home a title, then its back to focusing on Football😎 Hook Em' 🤘🤘

Family. 🙂 Niece getting married. She did not attend UT, not did her fiance. I know my niece is not into football, and I don't think her fiance is too much either. Again, at least we will get to watch the entire game undisturbed well before the wedding!

They've got something special about them, for sure. A senior-dominated group that plays with an edge. -

"Buddy," again, they had long stretches of going hitless and it was clear this wasn't the same team once they lost Spencer. They had decent stretches but they didnt have enough arms. It was pretty clear to me . -

hmmmm...I don't know...usually you play the first 40 games to get yourself in position to make a run...we just didn't make the improvements you need to make once we got there. And the truth is that we had a nasty habit of striking out 10+ times in games...on a regular basis. That's just a sign of a lack of talent, even though it can certainly be argued that most teams out there were LESS talented. We had a FEW guys, Bleyeu, for instance, with some talent that has a chance to go on to MLB in the future. We'll see from here what he does. I'm sure there will be better days ahead, but it will be a while before we see that. -

Felt like this team punched way above their weight all season. Injuries and just kinda falling back down to earth a little. Still think they should have advanced to the supers. -
A few thoughts: We should be proud of this group. Obviously a very disappointing ending and embarrassing to be honest but none of us had the expectation that this team should win the SEC. We all knew throughout the season that this team was overachieving and had a magical run throughout the first 21 games of SEC play. They just ran out of gas and losing Jared Spencer was too much to overcome. Texas will attack the portal and Schloss will bring in guys he thinks will be Dudes. Dylan Volantis is going to be a superstar next season and I would think might be the Ace or Saturday guy of the staff. Schloss’s best teams are ahead of him and I have no doubt he will win this program a National Championship. I think the Will Gasparino experience should be over.

Team peaked too early and was ultimately rocked by Spencer’s injury. That had a huge ripple effect on the rest of the staff and pitching was never the same after. Also stinks that Gasparino and Flores lost their bats about 2 months ago and never found them. I agree with the sentiment that this team probably overachieved early for what it was. That said, great first season for Schloss and hope he is ready to re-load for 2026.
