  1. Past hour
  2. Arch will be fine. Thankfully all the Arch 2026 draft BS is dead now.
  3. I can go back to ASU 2024 where we greatly benefited a call and review.
  4. Believe you’re missing a word or several here. It’s not like we never get calls if that’s what you’re saying. I mean we can go back to 2013 ISU or whenever that was. 1988 North Texas. Particularly teams that few feel sorry for if they get hosed.
  5. Going to be in Ft. Worth on October 4 for an evening event. What are suggestions for UT friendly game watching bars in Ft. Worth??
  6. Dude has taken a physical beating the last two weeks for sure
  7. That sucks for Florida. He really needs as many practice snaps as he can get.
  8. This stat is crazy and basically explains the record this year.
  9. Not against us but against the Aggies maybe.
  10. Cross Country Preview: The Texas Longhorns have historically not excelled in Cross Country. There may be a variety of reasons for this in the past but most recently it has been apparent that Coach Flo has prioritized the limited scholarships that are shared between T&F and CC for non-distance running athletes. Texas has rarely had strong Cross Country runners or athletes who excel at distance events during the Track and Field Season. In 2022, Texas hired Greg Metcalf to lead the Cross Country teams and I was curious if this would lead to a more serious approach to distance running. Coach Metcalf was previously a coach at Washington and won CC national championships on the women's side with the Huskies. A google search will show that his time ended in Washington with some athlete complaints around issues such as verbal abuse. His tenure at Texas was brief, and while he did bring Texas a top 10 finish on the Men's side in 2023, his tenure at Texas quietly ended with him doing little to rehab his image. Sarah Smith now serves as the assistance coach who oversees M&W CC and distance events. Under Coach Smith, the women's team made it to nationals last year and finished in last place while the mens team finished in the top 5 at regionals. For the women Eva Jess and Olivia Howell were the top finishers at nationals as seniors. They were followed by returners Elizabeth Pickett, Sydni Wilkins and Brighton Mooney. None of the runners finished in the top 100 overall. In the early season, against low level competition, the longhorns have swept the podium with the above mentioned returners leading the way along with Sophomore Kaylin Rendon entering the mix. It does not appear that any new comer on campus is going to make a major impact on the team. On the Men's side, early results point to Freshmen Aidan Torres as the lead runner on this squad along with senior Nathanael Berhane and fellow fish Jaoquin De La Cruz. All 3 of the runners finished behind athletes from lower division Texas schools so I am skeptical they will be able to finish ahead of the Division 1 programs we will be facing in the SEC championships and regionals. Directors' Cup Spin I have always said that distance athletes are the most valuable athletes in regards to the Directors' Cup. Someone who can run at an all-american level in CC, indoor and outdoor track can add a lot of overall points to the Directors' Cup tally. Unfortunately, Texas Track and Field, even when at their best, typically doesn't provide a lot of resources to this program. Hopefully with scholarship limits a thing of the past, and a roster limit of 45, Texas can rise to the top of the CC world once they start providing full rides to a full host of CC athletes. Fortunately, qualifying for the NCAA Championship is based on the teams finish at regionals with the top 2 teams being Automatic Qualifiers. Arkansas has ruled the roost in the South Central Region but Texas has often been just good enough to finish second and make it to nationals. This year, they are not ranked in the top 2 in the region at this juncture but real competition doesn't start until next month. An AQ for NCAA championships means at least 43 points, even with a last place finish. Finishing in the top 5 at regionals, something both teams should be able to do everywhere, equates to 27-28 points. Id expect both teams to do that and keep our fingers crossed for something better.
  11. Today
  12. Texas has gotten it’s share of benefits of doubt just other teams.
  13. Gotta feel for the kid…hopefully we get to see him at his best at some point
  14. Pre snap penalties are lack of focus others are poor technique, both are correctable.
  15. Who knows how healthy he ever has been. My best bet is only DJ knows that answer.
  16. There’s a significant piece that we don’t get the benefit of the doubt some teams do. And we’ve produced quite a few NFL defenders over the years even prior to the past two years so it’s not like our opponents overwhelmed us with their talent. We’ve had a number of borderline holds called on us and ignored on our opponents.
  17. Expected to be back vs Texas, but who knows how healthy he will be.
  18. For those not wanting to click thru the link: • Texas: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M • Alabama: Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State • Arkansas: LSU, Texas, Missouri • Auburn: Alabama, Georgia, Vanderbilt • Georgia: Auburn, Florida, South Carolina • Florida: Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina • Kentucky: Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee • LSU: Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Arkansas • Mississippi State: Alabama, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt • Missouri: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M • Oklahoma: Missouri, Ole Miss, Texas • Ole Miss: LSU, Mississippi State, Oklahoma • South Carolina: Georgia, Florida, Kentucky • Tennessee: Alabama, Kentucky, Vanderbilt • Texas A&M: LSU, Missouri, Texas • Vanderbilt: Auburn, Mississippi State, Tennessee
  19. Holding has always been a big problem with the OL. Christian jones and cam Williams would always get called for it. Seems like it’s an issue Flood hasn’t been able to correct over the years. I think the false starts will get fixed throughout the season as the offense gels some more
  20. I preached this last year iI believe 2022 and 2023 we had more yards or penalties in almost every game than our opponent. same ole same ole. last year started bad but got better
  21. Awesome recognition for Ella who has had a great bounce back season after losing her starting spot at times last season. Our hitters are killing it (literally) and it all starts with the assists from Ella.
  22. Go ahead and give her SEC Freshman of the year! And she will battle her teammate, Torrey Stafford, for SEC player of the year!
  23. Have them do up downs till Bobby is tired lol
  24. Is it a feature under Sark, or is it a feature of being at Texas? In the last 15 years, we have never once ranked better than 40th in penalties. Here is some years further back than what you listed: 2020- 116th (8.2) 2019- 115th (7.3) 2018- 109th (7.4) 2017- 106th (7.1) 2016- 102nd (7.1) 2015- 79th (6.4) 2014- 65th (5.9) 2013- 45th (5.2) 2012- 40th (5.2) 2011- 81st (6.5) -Texas gets officiated differently from other teams, whether intentionally or unintentionally. We went the entire 2023 season with 1 accepted holding penalty against our opponent in Big 12 play. 15 years in a row being one of the most penalized teams in the country under 4 different coaches. That isn't just a coincidence. -Timing of penalties. On Saturday, 3 of our 9 penalties were on the final offensive drive with third-stringers in the game. 4 of our 12 penalties against SJSU came on the final two drives with backups in the game. A lot of the miscues have been at the very beginning or very end of games. -Penalties are up across the country. Last year, only 26 total teams averaged more than 7 penalties a game. Currently, 49 teams are averaging 7 or more penalties. -All you can do is try to emphasize it the best you can. There isn't a magic wand.
  25. What I thought was important was how the team came out in the second half. Regardless of opponent, being able to continue through the halftime break and still be hot for the offense was crucial in that confidence boost. One day at a time, one practice at a time, one game at a time. Trust the process.
  26. What is everyone's thoughts on penalties? Being a highly penalized team just seems to be a feature under Sark. What can be done to fix this moving forward, can it be fixed? Year - NCAA Rank(Penalties Per Game) 2024 - 94(6.4) 2023 - 99(6.6) 2022 - 68(6.1) 2021 - 58(5.8) As far as 2025 goes this is what we're looking at through non-conference: 2025 - 121(8.5)
