Offseason Workout Notes

***

Starting with the leadership in the offseason department. I talked to a few sources over the weekend that all echoed a very similar sentiment – The Texas locker room is in a healthy place.

One consistent theme that I have gathered is the leaders on this team believe the talent is absolutely there to compete for a national title.

Additionally, this is a driven group. One source mentioned that a number of Longhorns have more vocal this offseason when it comes to offseason conditioning + weight training. Of the group mentioned that are increasing their voice in the room, Arch Manning, Colin Simmons, Trevor Goosby, and Connor Robertson were mentioned specifically.

Even with Goosby and Manning being sidelined a due to post-bowl game surgery, they remain involved heavily.

Regardless of the weather, each offseason conditioning workout has started at 5:30 a.m. Not always easy to get emotionally up for that.

Quick Nugget on Cam Coleman + Kohen Brown

– I am told the Auburn transfer has been one of two wide receivers working specifically with the running backs in the weight room so far this offseason. The other receiver joining Coleman is early enrollee Kohen Brown.

Coleman is the strongest receiver in the room at the moment, though it sounds as if Brown is not too far behind him either.

I am preparing to hear a lot about Brown over the next three months as Texas ramps up with spring football. The early impressions have been very positive.

Can’t wait for the simple minded folks to read this and think cam coleman is going to be playing runningback

Haha, I hope that's not the case.

Brown's HUDL looks really good, seems like he was underrated especially when he ran a 10.7 100 M last track season.

I would be he’s a name we will hear a lot about this spring.

Does M. Terry move to WR or will he transfer out?

He's still at RB for now. Haven't heard of another move

Lots of weapons this year and it’s exciting to think about how Sark can get so many guys touches. Im really interested to hear what these guys are doing working with Arch and getting chemistry there and who the defensive guys are that are working against them.

@CJ Vogel  in all seriousness.  Why would Wr's do off season conditioning with the Running backs?  What are they working over there that they aren't getting with the WR off season workouts?

More weight lifting groups. Coleman and Brown are lifting at a heavier clip than the other WR

oh wow - cam coleman being that strong surprises me.  He just looks very lean so wasn't expecting that

That, and getting the top dogs to compete against each other will lead to them pushing each other to take it to another level
