After last night's 16-2 win over Tarleton State, Texas will get the winner of an elimination game at noon between the Texans and UC Santa Barbara.

The good news for the Longhorns is that no matter the opponent, their pitching should be essentially depleted. The Gauchos aren't expected to bring ace Jackson Flora back for the rest of the regional after he threw 97 pitches against Holy Cross yesterday. Tarleton State has been dealing with pitching injuries late in the season, so the Texans came into the regional without a full complement of arms.

Texas (42-13) will send Ruger Riojas to the mound. The Longhorns also have a fully-rested bullpen, with Thomas Burns, Haiden Leffew, Brett Crossland and Sam Cozart yet to throw in the regional. Schloss said last night after the win over Tarleton State that, if necessary, Texas could bring Luke Harrison back on short rest.

UPDATE: The Longhorns will face UC Santa Barbara with a berth in the Super Regional on the line. The Gauchos beat ended Tarleton State’s season with a 9-5 win.

Tarleton got hosed on that overturned DP in the top of the first.  He tapped the bag with his toe and there was never a shot that showed otherwise.

I thought the exact same thing
