Quinncent McManning, Jr. Posted yesterday at 03:04 AM Posted yesterday at 03:04 AM Watching aggys strategy this year on OL is fascinating. They have the no 1 OT Matthew’s committed. Kennedy brown is also 5 star level. Plus they have Kaeden Scott and DeMarrion Johnson making a total of 4 top 100 recruits regardless of position. Look like they probably won’t get Camara but working hard to also pull in Simeon another borderline 5 star. How much nil can you sink into a position that probably won’t yield a bunch of early starters? Are they going for the best OL recruiting class of all time banner to pair with their 2022 best class of all time one? Quote

It's going to be tough for Elko to keep that spigot open without high level results. My guess is that 1/2 if not more of these top 50/100 players transfer out when they don't live up to expectations and won't take a pay cut or they do perform and want another payday. Bobbers Posted 53 minutes ago Posted 53 minutes ago I don't want to sound like a homer, but having a top 5 signing class in 2027 and beyond just means that you won't have money for the portal. The portal is a superior way to find proven talent. Signing class ranking no longer tell the whole story. Quote
NothinButDaHorns34 Posted 50 minutes ago Posted 50 minutes ago We’ll see if it works out for elko because it sure as hell didn’t for fisher. Quote
Danimal Posted just now Posted just now My thoughts: 1. Elko knows he got lucky this past season, and this season will be more difficult. So, he will be able to get people to look past the loses this coming year and be able to point to future of a highly ranked recruiting class. 2. No matter how much money you pour into highschool recruiting, the hit rate will always be the same, even for 5 star guys. They are putting so much of their money into development vs. performance it's going to create an imbalance and wasted funds on development. When the high priced development guys actually hit the performance phase, they are going to demand higher pay. The A&M budget won't be able to pay all these guys for performance, so something will have to give and other schools will reap the benefit of all the money A&M spent to just roster and develop a kid when they transfer out.
