I think it’s very smart from a development standpoint 

Everyone thinks it’s just about NIL. For guys like Spears Jr… the development for two years in college vs one more boring year of HS basketball is big. Spears Jr will get way more out of a college S&C, playing against the Texas roster all year, playing a role on a top 10 level SEC team and player development in the program 

And you can get paid well while advancing more as a player vs another year in HS
