Today’s countdown spot belongs to the best Longhorns to wear No. 43, led by defensive end Kalen Thornton.

Thornton played at Texas from 2000–03, appearing in 46 games with 35 starts. He finished his career with 155 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, 14 sacks and 75 quarterback pressures. He earned Freshman All-American honors in 2000, was named honorable mention All-Big 12 in 2003 and was selected as Texas’ Outstanding Defensive End following his senior season.

Also representing No. 43 is linebacker Jett Bush. The former walk-on earned a scholarship in 2020 and went on to play in 58 career games with six starts. Bush recorded 60 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and three sacks over his final four seasons. His biggest moment came in 2023 when he returned an interception 43 yards for a touchdown against Texas Tech during the Longhorns’ Big 12 championship season.
