Texas Baseball Picks Up 2028 Commitment

Looks like he might be the top player/pitcher in NJ for 2028. He is already 6’5” and 225 lbs with a fastball in the 95 MPH range. It will be interesting to see how high he gets drafted.

When will the new rule go into effect where MLB clubs are no longer able to draft straight out of high school?

That’s a good question. There’s been a lot of talk about changing the draft rules, but nothing has actually been approved or scheduled yet. MLB and the MLBPA have discussed the idea of pushing high‑school players toward college or the minors first, but it’s still just a proposal at this point. I don't know where this stands at this point. Believe @Blake Munroe would know.

So for now(i think), clubs can still draft straight out of high school, and a prospect like Klug would be eligible the same way every other prep player is. If the league ever does move forward with that rule, it’ll change the calculus for kids with his kind of size and velocity, but don't think we’re not there yet.

Very unlikely to be agreed upon during labor negotiations
