HookedOnTF Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Since 2005, the teams have played 22 times (including the 2018 Big 12 title game). Oklahoma leads 12-10, even though Texas has outscored OU 694-655. Close games are why: One-score games: OU 9, Texas 3. Double-digit games: Texas 7, OU 3. But the answer isn't simply to go All Gas. From 2014 to 2023 Texas lost 8 of 11 and averaged 33.4 points in those eight losses. Seven were by one score. Texas is only 5-3 when scoring 35+, and 4-3 at 40+. The race to 23: OU is 12-2 when scoring 23 or more. Texas has won only once when scoring fewer than 23. But getting there doesn't save Texas: 9-8 when scoring 23+. It's the defense: OU has not beaten Texas with fewer than 28 and is 0-8 when held to 20 or under. OU hasn't landed between 21 and 27 once. Texas's last three wins: 49-0, 34-3, 23-6. It sure is hard to get to 23 pts without TDs, so let Boom cook!!! My golden hat score: Texas 24 OU 9 3 Quote

Red River almost always comes down to defense settling the chaos, not just chasing stats. Holding them under 20 is the ultimate formula—24-9 feels like a very realistic prediction! 2 Quote
