Freeman is never leaving Notre Dame unless he has NFL ambitions. They have a clear path the CFB every year. Although they look like they might lose this BYU game. Cignetti doesn't seem like he wants to leave Indiana. He's got a ton of support, got a cushy new deal and is doing really well there despite the loss to Ohio State today. Saban and Meyer are never going back to coaching. Anyone else you want to go after is a risk. Now they'll have a great financial support system behind them to go and get whatever they want. But Sark already has that and has in a lot of aspects under performed. You'd also have to convince the boosters to spend well over 50 million and convince them that this next guy will get Texas over the top. I mean we have 1 national title in how many years now? That just isn't good enough for a blue blood. I fear Sark missed his window in 23 and 24.

Honestly? I have no idea. I'm not really sure what to expect with this team. It seems like the wheels have been unbolted and might come off at any moment or they'll get bolted back on and they'll keep this thing cruising. Who knows. It's definitely not an easy task and I don't get paid enough money to figure out. These are just my opinions on what I witnessed.

My useless judgements are this: Texas defense seemed to take a step back. Too many 3rd downs given up. Still no turnovers after 3 games. Got beaten by a first time starting QB. Texas offense is in a death spiral. Not sure Sark can get a handle on it. He doesn't know what he's doing when he has to go off his script. Arch is continuing to regress under his and Milwee's tutelage. Special teams wasn't a negative this week, which is great. The run game is never go to work, if you bring in backs like Smothers and Brown. The kind of physical run game Sark wants requires bigger guys like Cooper. I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet (I might be a masochist) but this team was also 4-2 last year at a similar point. Just with 4 non-con games and only 2 conference games. There is some sliver of hope to turn it around. Thought playoffs might be done but there was some SEC chaos today that might've kept our hopes alive if you can pull it off.

This is going to sound weird but I don't think he's on the hot seat. They were 4-2 last year before going 5-1 the rest of the way. Now I'm not saying that will happen again but I think he's got a bit of rope left the question is will he hang himself with it or pull himself back up? We just saw Bama get their tails whooped against Tenn, Georgia lost the game against unranked Auburn with a Stockon fumble (he also had 2 int's) and Mateer has almost 200 yards passing against Kentucky already. Now are there issues for Texas, yes. Especially on the offensive side. Because let's be honest every QB Florida has played has lit them up and Arch had 77 yards going into the 4th quarter. If not for a big pass to Mosley he would barely have 100 yards for an entire game. Sark will evaluate nothing, it's just to get people off his back. It shouldn't take back to back losses to realize that your offense is hot garbage. That things needed be changed. You brought in two RB's that don't fit what you want out of the running game, you have an OL that is geared towards pass protection and not the run game. Yet you don't lean into the pass game more. When it was working early in the game you went away from it to run the ball. Arch literally had the hot hand. I'm just baffled by his decisions at times. He won't hire an OC so you guys can forget that and no one is getting fired on that side of the ball. Unless the wheels really fall off. Personally, I'm just going to see how things play out and go from there. But if he can't fix the offense and find a way to get this talent to work, then I don't know after that. I also thought defensively the team was not as good as I thought. Still no turnovers and they gave up a lot of 3rd down conversions. Some of it was bad field position by the O or just being on the field too much but they are legit concerns. At least special teams wasn't a negative this week?

There's actually some really good lacrosse players in Texas. Ethan Burke was one before he went the football route.

The thing I love about Cooper is he doesn't dance around, he makes a cut and explodes. I think Brown dances too much and Smothers doesn't have as much explosiveness as Cooper. Seems like they might need to give Cooper more of a run with Smothers. Use Brown sparingly.

Can I just say that on OU's TD drive, that Biles late hit penalty was absolutely stupidity. When will they allow common sense reffing? If they don't gift OU that penalty, it's a turnover and they probably only score 3 points all game on the D.

Also just reading, you can tell all the greedy corporations were heavily involved. ESPN already getting deals done to get games through to the 2031 season. Not only do they appear to run more ads/commercials these days but that's all they seem to care about. Just pure stupidity. At this rate just have everyone make the playoffs and give them a pat on the back while you're at it.

Yeah miss me with this. If it gets passed, it will kill my enjoyment of College Football. I'll still watch Texas football but I won't really care about CFB much anymore. Leave 24 team playoffs in the FCS. It's just pure greed.

The OL is holding up in pass protection and does a decent job in the run blocking. They aren't the biggest issue.

Which I'm confused about. Wasn't Sark and Floods whole philosophy to go after "big humans" but we for some reason can't just lean on teams with our "big humans" and pick up yards. I'm not sure you always want to be addressing your OL in the portal because you can't always be sure who you're getting. It's why I much prefer the recruit/develop strategy for that position. Sark likes to talk about physicality but that's really all it is, talk. It rarely ever shows up in games.

I agree, unless you can figure out how to run the ball out of it than it only needs to be utilized a bit more. If you're going to stick with 11/12 personnel, than Bishop needs to see more rotation. The dude's dynamic and has the speed to cause defenses panic.

We haven't been good on special team in a while. When was the last time we blocked a punt? We don't do that very often. our return game has been mediocre outside of some plays by Niblett last year. This year he's been a non-factor. Punting was better last year and this year it's hit or miss. The K is pretty decent, he had the leg for the 53 yard FG attempt just veered right. But that's such a bad answer, imo.

One of the best QB's at Texas that everyone praises (Colt McCoy) came from small school football. I believe Jim Ned was 2A at the time? Correct me if I'm wrong on that but there's tons of small school kids that do really well at the college level. To your point, one does not need to be at the top level of a state (6A in Texas) to be a great QB.

You say Arch is the issue. Arch is a reflection of his coaching and what he's being taught to do. Ewers had similar issues. It can't always be the players when things have remained the same. Sark and Milwee are at fault. Arch has to take part of the blame for his own actions but he isn't the main problem. Brooks is great at what he does but I saw the same routes and most of the time there isn't anyone to dump it to and if there is he misses it at times trying to make a play down field (something Sark wants btw).

I actually disagree about the OL being bad or the problem. I watched the all 22 (just Arch's plays) and he had time to throw and make reads on most of his drop backs. There are issues with communication and slide protections but overall they actually did a good job at the point of attack. Now the run game I'll have to see more of because I didn't see the all 22 of that. But when he has time to throw, he has nowhere to go, guys are still running their routes. When his protection breaks down, guys still have their backs to him or are covered. There's very rarely something for him to dump it to and when there is he doesn't see it for whatever reason. People want to blame Arch and the OL. But the problem is Sark, that's where it starts. He's the guy running the program, running the offense and coaching up these guys. He's the one in charge of Milwee, Flood, etc. It's easy to just blame Arch but when you don't plat to what your QB does well and instead having everyone running 20 yards downfield for a route, when you know teams are bringing pressure is weird. Now If I'm going to pick on an OL player, it's Robertson specifically. The C is the most important position on the OL. All the blitz pick ups, communication, etc. They start from there. Several times I see Arch walking up to the LOS to point things out and I didn't see Robertson do any of that. Sikorski tries to help him out a lot but he's also trying to make sure no one's in his lane. Not sure if there will be changes there or who you even put there. Do you move Sikorski to C or Christian to C? Because just from watching the play from that all 22 he seems like the biggest issue there. Especially for a 5th year guy, that is a bit concerning. Anyway, just my two cents for whatever it's worth. We'll see what he does this week against Florida but I'm not really excepting anything different.

Watching the all 22 (only Arch's plays) it seems the issue is with the route choices. A lot of it is going way down field or sitting on the side line. Nothing is really open and there doesn't seem to be someone to check down to on most plays. The OL actually held up fairly well in pass protection and gave Arch time to throw. But what you notice is not many people open or they still have their backs to him as the plays are breaking down. Even on the ones where he's under duress most of the time the guys all have their backs turned and there's no where to go with it. Hence him hesitating a lot. Doesn't excuse his poor awareness at times or sailing passes but I think Sark needs to look at that and reevaluate.
