Bo Davis

Recommended Posts

No disrespect to Bo Davis, I believe his Bus tirade was the turning point for Texas football, however he left the cupboard mostly bare so my question is.....How,  with Texas vast resources are we competing with Bo for recruits seeing as he didn't do great recruiting while he was at UT,  Development is another story altogether,  but recruiting was not great.

I like having Bo on staff and thought his development of players was great. Coburn, Ojomo, Sweat, and Murphy all raved about him. That being said he did leave a hole in the roster.

LSU is a strong program so he still has a lot to offer despite not being at Texas. I hope Kenny Baker is a great replacement but Bo has more skins on the wall.

Define development.  Because to me the difference between Sweat and Coburns early years and their final was nothing more than finally giving max effort in their contract year.  Murphy always had great effort.  What skills did you see them develop that they did not have when they arrived that can support a statement like "second to none"?  Maybe I don't know what to look for but I'd give more credit to the S&C coach than I would BD.

Recruits needed to see the development more than just 1 year. After the last 2 years of draft, they have seen the consistency of development. If he had stayed at Texas this year, he would be getting the same recruits. Imo

I think the reason we are competing with Bo is largely perception. It looks like Sweat and Murphy went BOOM in their final year and became 1st and 2nd round picks, were consider the best tandem on DTs in the country and are now millionaires. And he is a firey coach that is well-liked. That perception is gold right now.
