All 3 years they had a borderline top 5 class even before late the adds. 2023 had literally one notable late flip (Anthony Hill). Last year was an elite class even without Filsaime or Wardell Mack. They have won out for plenty of guys who just long drawn out recruiting battles (Black, DJ Campbell, Neto, Baker, Wingo, Zina, Akana, etc)

Flips/coaching carousel/bad seasons happen every year so that is absolutely something you factor into your process. When it happens 3 years in a row it is more than just luck.

T Smith, Filsaime, Mack, A Hill late flips all 4 and 5 star recruits.  That's 4 in 3 years.  And yes the carousel happens every year, however it does not mean that recruits that want anything to do with Texas will fall out of that tree.

And D’Antre Robinson, Bubba Hampton, Jonah Wilson, Evan Stewart, Jamarion Miller flipped away from Texas.

It works both ways. Why do we pretend like Texas is the only school who has gotten lucky and has only benefited from it?

Again, when it happens 3 years in a row, it is more than just a trend. And if you have to set yourself up to capitalize on those opportunities because the other big boy schools know who might flip too.

Sark will sign at top 10 class.

Won’t even be close. Texas is 13th right now in the On3 rankings with 4 five stars pending decisions and multiple four stars like Townsend, Brooks, Sanders, etc.

Everyone should be more worried about filling needs at LB and DT than if the number next to the class says 5th or 8th in December.

Which position coaches are incompetent?

I could make an argument for secondary as a whole because that is the one position groupings I cant say has improved from a technical aspect from 1st season to now with increased talent.

1) Was talking about recruiting

2) I wouldn't call trotting out Kitan Crawford, Michael Taafee and Jerrin Thompson as your starters an increase in talent year over year. We'll see what happens this year.

Recruits want playing time.  Sark is in some the victim of his own success.

4 and 5 star recruits who pick Texas now are going to spend time on the bench.  Texas is now that deep.

Also, I still think the portal is more important than ever now.  Sark is going to fill holes quickly.

Texas is in the best position since 2003-04  imo.  We shall see.

Hasn't stopped others from recruiting high level players year over year.

Oh recruiting. Brandon Harris in over his head as well as Taylor Searles. Lost a really good asset in glasscock and failed miserably replacing him. We’re seeing that lack of organization now

Please elaborate on Taylor Searels being in over her head. Interested to hear this reasoning.

Could also tell us what Glasscock was in charge of?

Sark has made some head scratching decisions with retaining coaches who aren’t getting it done on the field, namely secondary and then replacing a DL coach with one who has no recruiting experience at one of most important positions in college football, the cherry was elevating some folks that may have no been ready, only time will tell on them though IMO. Might just be me but Sark seems more reactionary and very conservative with staffing decisions. Example, LSU was ranked in the 90s in pass defense one year, Brian Kelly knew that wasn’t good enough and made swift changes. Texas ranked significantly worse at 113th and Sark brings all coaches back, all while this having not been a one year issue. Seems odd to me, there’s no doubt Sark is stubborn, see it with his NIL approach and staffing decisions, he may need to adjust. His culture mantra and NIL talk seems very Dabo like to me

lol you are patting Brian Kelly on the back for hiring a JV defensive coaching staff complete with a cornerbacks coach who had never coached above high school ball then realizing it was a mistake and firing them after 2 years?

There is nothing similar about Steve Sarkisian and Dabo Sweeney. Let me know where the Isaiah Bond or Trey Moore or Matthew Golden or Amari Niblack or Bill Norton or Tiaoalii Savea are that Dabo brought to Clemson out of the portal this offseason.

I think Sark is doing a great job of going after most positions. There just seems to be a disconnect on hs recruiting WR and DT. I'm not going to degrade anyone's efforts, I just dont think he has figured out HOW to recruit these positions. Does it vary on each recruit? Yes! Does it vary on each year? Yes! Problem is, there has been a few years in a row where this has been an issue.

Just out of curiosity, why wouldn’t he deserve the benefit of the doubt? Sarks recruiting classes at Texas…

On3:

2024 - 6th

2023 - 3rd

2022 - 5th

247:

2024 - 5th

2023 - 3rd

2022 - 5th

Not saying he hasn’t been taken to the shed recently, but why wouldn’t he deserve the benefit of the doubt when you look at his three classes at Texas?

I’m doing a deep dive on this and will post some of my findings on Sunday, Lord willing. I believe Sark’s three classes has started like this, and the fans reactions has been the same each time.

No he said he’s hearing more about A&M for Lockett as in they are making it interesting not that he is trending

I can tell you’re the type to be surprised and throwing a tantrum once they all announce elsewhere because your fandom gets in the way  facts the mods give us

I have never and will never throw a fit about a kid not coming to Texas. I see what he’s saying and understand A&M is one to watch but never did he say he was trending there. Relax brother

His arrogance has led to incompetency at some position coaches and recruiting staff support. It will show sooner than later. But hey, at least he’s got the culture!

I have a hard time believing Steve Sarkisian is arrogant. The guy seems anything but.
