I remember the Beard teams were tenacious on defense, and other than Weaver I don't see any of that same type of fire playing defense. It's not like Terry wouldn't have figured out the defensive tactics that Beard was using as an assistant. Think it's more of what it would take for this team to maximize ... If a team has two guards at 6-0 and 5-11... they must be terrific in rim protection and rebounding the ball. And they are caught in between ... don't have the rugged defender/rebounder defensively. Same issue Beard had to work through while at Texas. So if you aren't big at guard ... you have to have some of that rugged/rebounding defense behind the small guards. I like what Texas wants to do offensively, they just need more size at guard or a little more toughness on the interior. Texas is recruiting to what they want to be, but all eyes are on this season currently - as they should be.
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted February 3 Moderators Share Posted February 3 Really liking the last 9:00 of the first half from Texas. The defensive aggression has increased, and Texas is finding ways to use transition to create open shots offensively. Might have found something here after TCU fell back to earth offensively. Hermanator
It's getting a bit sloppy here down the stretch. At least the defense has picked up on the perimeter the last few weeks with Weaver getting a lot more minutes. They need this win.
Hermanator
Aßmas with a ridiculous 3 possession stretch to turn a tied game into a 9pt lead with about 2 minutes left and the team defense was great on the other end. When he can take over offensively like this late in games this team can beat whoever they play. Great win

Neil Leininger
6 hours ago, Gerry Hamilton said: Texas Quad 1 games remaining ... at TCU Iowa State at Houston at Kansas at Texas Tech at Baylor OU The easiest part of the Big 12 scheduled is in the rearview mirror. I mean there is no easy stretch in the Big 12. This team could easily be 7-2 or 2-7. The only game they had no chance of winning was Tech at home. Terry finally figured out that Weaver needed to play more than Cunningham and that decision came 2 conference losses to late. Now the next person to see his PT limited is going to have to be Hunter. He just kills the team with silly TOs. We switch Hunter with Love and this team is likely a Top 10 team in the country and no worse than 3 losses in conference play. Iowa State is a must win game because they are 1-3 at home in the Big 12. 4-5 in conference but have the most conference road wins as well. I hoping for 5-0 at home and steal a road game to get to 10-8. That should get them to the 6 seed line easily. Win a couple more in the conference tournament move up even further. Every game in the Big 12 tournament might be Quad 1. Edited February 3 by Neil Leininger

Orngblud05
@Gerry Hamilton if the season ended today, does Texas get in? If I’m not mistaken, every road game left is against a ranked opponent. Home games are a mix. Sweep the home games and lose all road games, that would be 5-4 across the remaining games. That’ll do IMO. Thoughts?
