Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is on the podium this morning discussing the Longhorns' 4–0 start to the season.

Looking for updates on Quinn Ewers and the health of DeAndre Moore as SEC play kicks off this weekend against Mississippi State.

Texas remains the No. 1 team in the country entering the beginning of conference play.

Notes and quotes in the comments.

On the LB group:  Sarkisian says the two defensive players of the game were both linebackers which speaks to the depth and talent in that room.

"We have always felt very highly of Lefau."

On TyAnthony Smith: "I thought we were getting a developmental player... He is very instinctual."

Sarkisian says Texas feels very good about the LB position as well.

Sarkisian says the staff wanted to get the five best defensive backs on to the field this season. Mentioned that if the staff kept Jahdae Barron at STAR, one of Barron and Jaylon Guilbeau would be standing on the sideline next to him.

Sarkisian says the Texas offense really has not had to change too much due to the RB injuries so far this season.

"We believe in running the football, we believe in running between the tackles."

Sark mentions having a veteran QB helps in all facets.

Sarkisian says RB Jaydon Blue walked out of his position meeting this morning and said "Man, I should have played a lot better."

Blue rushed for 124 yards and scored 4 total TD.

Love this !! That’s championship mentality !

I asked Sarkisian about the proclivity of Arch Manning throwing the football downfield as the QB at Texas. So far this season, 25.5% of Manning's pass attempts have traveled 20+ yards.

Sark says it was the byproduct of a few things – 1. the gameplan had a lot of deep shots on it, and 2. Manning learning when and how to check the ball down instead of forcing it down the field.

Sarkisian says it was a great learning moment for Manning to get those reps and realize when to check it down, but also for him to realize when to call the freeby plays and to get a deeper understanding of Manning's tendencies in game.
