Favorite Christmas Songs

My favorite Christmas carol album is one recorded at the Radio City Music Hall in NYC in 1942 by the Robert Shaw Chorale.  Besides having traditionally great arrangements but in mono, it was recorded when the world was under great threat from the fascist Axis powers and the future of the world was quite uncertain.  One can feel the hope emanating from the performance. It elevates the performance above the cutesy post war radio songs that became popular Christmas culture.

The album has been out of print for over half a century, unfortunately.
