Moderators CJ Vogel Posted January 7 Author Moderators Posted January 7 2026 EDGE Jamarion Carlton says he is definitely going to be at Texas on the 25th for the Junior Day. Says he speaks often with Pete Kwiatkowski and was a big fan of the Texas EDGE room this year. Really liked seeing the Longhorns deploy their pass rush specialists in certain downs and distances. Carlton mentioned a decision may come around April-May, but we will see. Of course getting through the official visits will be something to monitor. Texas in a really good spot and the relationships play a big role. 1 Quote
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted January 7 Author Moderators Posted January 7 2026 WR Jordan Clay is the only '26 WR on his team here in San Antonio. Clay said Texas is definitely in his top group right now. Says Chris Jackson and Steve Sarkisian were able to build the energy in his recruitment. Nebraska, Arkansas, Tennessee, Baylor, Oklahoma are listed as other schools that are monitoring the SA prospect. Also worth mentioning that Clay came in listed at 6-feet-4-inches during AAB measurements. 1 Quote
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted January 7 Author Moderators Posted January 7 Carlton said he is listed at 245 pounds at the moment. He was a bit surprised when they asked him to play some inside DL during the practice today but that he is ready for the challenge. Really impressive EDGE prospect. Similar build to Zina Umeozulu off the edge, but perhaps a bit further along in terms of weight at this point. 1 Quote
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted January 7 Author Moderators Posted January 7 2026 Mansfield OL Felix Ojo didn't look out of place today either. Really lengthy body. Ojo and Texas talk often, but not everyday at this point. Quote
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted January 7 Author Moderators Posted January 7 Kaliq Lockett also told me that DB Kade Phillips is one of the best defensive backs he has ever gone up against in his career. Not too bad! 2 Quote

From a 247 article by Gabe Phillips about the "All Lobby" guys who looked the part at the Navy All-American Bowl - "Texas cornerback signee Kade Phillips, a top 40 overall prospect in the Top247 rankings, boasts one of the most impressive track and field ledgers in the class. Not only has he hit 21.50 seconds in the 200 meters and broken into the 49s in the 400, Phillips owns an absurd 24-foot, 7 1/2-inch long jump. So to add to that elite athletic profile, Phillips measured exceptionally well Monday: just shy of 6-foot-1, 184 pounds with 10+ hand, 34+ arm, and a 6-foot-8 1/2 wingspan." Kaliq Lockett was also mentioned - "Kaliq Lockett, 2025 Top247 5-star WR, Texas signee One of the longest-framed receivers in attendance, Texas five-star signee Kaliq Lockett out of the DFW Metroplex showed up with offensive line-like length numbers, including a 33+ arm and a wingspan pushing 6-foot-7. Almost 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Lockett boasts enormous hands (10 1/2), which certainly aid his pass-catching abilities. Lockett caught more than 100 passes for almost 2,000 yards across his final two high school seasons." 2 2 Quote
Texas fan in Georgia Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Out of Lockett and McCutchen who could you see being a day 1 contributor ? Feels like it could be Lockett depending on how fast he can learn the playbook Quote
