Bevo92 Posted yesterday at 04:35 AM Share Posted yesterday at 04:35 AM (edited) I’m betting the entire Horns football team as well as all the coaches watched tonight’s game, went through all the emotions you’d expect while watching the game, knowing they had a real shot to be in this year’s game…….then they turned off the TV, set the alarm for 430am and said “time to get to work”. I’m so f’ing fired up for offseason workouts and spring ball to start. 2025 is gonna be a great season for the Longhorns. Hook em! 🤘🏼🐂🧡 Edited yesterday at 04:36 AM by Bevo92
JMarquette Posted yesterday at 04:37 AM Share Posted yesterday at 04:37 AM That hurt watching - we were so close. I know it takes a couple times to get to the top, but this one would have been a layup

I was referring to the thread in which several posters were saying Day is toast because he lost 4 straight to Michigan, but OK, let's talk NFL poaching here. Day already gets 10+ million a year from tOSU. There are only 9 NFL coaches making more than that. Day probably gets a bunch of bonus money for winning the natty. He probably gets an extension with a nice pay bump. How many NFL owners and GMs will make someone with just two years NFL coaching experience (as a QB coach for the Eagles one year and the 49ers another) one of the top 6 or 7 paid coaches in the league? It could happen, but I would not bet on it happening.

Not many outside of Ryan Day thought it could happen. But it did. Oh, wait...let's not make sense here. Alex Butler Posted yesterday at 05:44 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:44 AM Not much doubt in my mind that Texas would’ve beaten the Irish convincingly tonight had we pulled that game out 10Jan25. If nothing else we did a phenomenal job containing the juggernaut that tOSU’s offense became during the playoffs?! It’s funny to me hearing the announcers talk about how tOSU rolled through all these elite defenses, but actually they only rolled through 3. Their defense out played our defense, but their offense was average against us at best. Let’s run it back next year, I hope our defense is even more focused and driven to dominate like we did this year and our offense is inspired to play consistent complimentary football. To be fair to ND it would’ve been uglier probably with our disappearing act our offense plays, but ultimately the result and spread would’ve been about the same IMO. HOOK’EM! Just because we haven’t won the national championship, yet, doesn’t mean Sark is just collecting a paycheck and not delivering. The players, the culture, the player DEVELOPMENT, the coaching consistency, and the WINS are all directly connected to Sark. 1

I think Gerry's comment on the live stream, about how if he had lost to Tenn in the 1st round he would've likely been fired is pretty accurate. That noise after the Michigan game, seemed to light a fire under Day but also the entire Ohio State team/staff. Much different team we'll see in Ohio to start our 2025 campaign, but we're also not sure if the Day to the NFL rumours are going to get stronger now. Will he capitalize on it now or stick it out at Ohio State? If he does leave, there is some good options for them to go get (Freeman and Hartline to start with). Please enlighten me with what you consider “earning the yacht”?! More perspective for you, the two national championship teams this year got to the game transfer quarterbacks who had been starters for their previous teams for multiple seasons. Even more perspective, both teams in the national championship didn’t lose their entire backfield, WR corps, and TE from the season before. Last bit of perspective, Ryan Day earned an extension in May 2022 and still hasn’t beaten Michigan 2019 and 2 CFP appearances and 0 national titles Do you see how perspective helps us better define success and build a team capable of winning a championship? 3
goattalk100 Posted yesterday at 08:54 AM Share Posted yesterday at 08:54 AM Feels like if Day gets a chance in the NFL he would at least strongly consider it. The national championship gives him a ton of room in Columbus now but you can see on his face how much the pressure of that job has worn on him. Maybe Vegas calls him. BurntOrangeMD
As suspected, this game was a total borefest! It was over by the second quarter. ND was clearly overpowered and outmatched. The only surprise was osu's defense going soft in the second half. Texas should have won the Natty this year. Too many injuries. Quinn played hurt all year. Let's start by beating the hell out of osu in 2025! Hook'em! 🤘

Maybe, and especially if he secretly hopes for an early retirement. Some guys last forever, but the average length of an NFL coaching job is 3 years. I think Day knows that. It seems ironic that Day went from being ‘hated’ by OSU fans back in late Nov when they wanted him gone after the surprising loss to Michigan and now, after winning 4 straight, how would those same fans feel if he was able to get a gig in the NFL over the next couple weeks, leaving OSU like Harbaugh did to Mich last winter? Offensive minded coach with one of the best winning percentages of any college coach in past 50 yrs. Will be interesting to see if he stays. Waxahorn
The one thing that jumped out to me is that OSU's secondary holds on almost every single play.

He’s made enough money already that he could make the move to the nfl, not work out & then transition to tv or something pretty easily.
