As we near the beginning of the Arch Manning-era at Texas, there remains a stacking of talent that bodes very well for the future of the program.

On KJ Lacey specifically, I have heard some positives behind the scenes. One nugget specifically is the loose comparison to Bryce Young that has been circulating around folks in the facility.

A text from someone who has seen him throw this winter:

"Lacey can spin a football. His arm is ridiculous after watching him throw it (this week)."

As spring football starts up next week, one guy that will be fun to get a first glimpse at will be the signal caller from Saraland, Alabama.

Unfortunately i think trey owens is going to have to go the maalik murphy route before arch’s time is over here at texas if all the lacey reports are true once the pads actually come on.

I just hope Sark picks the best QB as starter this season and not just a guy because he has a couple of skins on the wall against low level competition.

perhaps...but if we recruit and sign K Bryant, then it might be Lacey that portals.

The truth is we are far away from all this sort of speculation.  Manning, barring injury is a likely STAR.  But what if he gets injured, God forbid?  Then we'll see who Owens and maybe Lacy really are.

I’d need situational context for that play. If it was a do or die moment, good play. If not, way too dangerous

I believe some people are overlooking Owens as Arch’s backup and then replacement. Owens is 5 inches or so taller, 30 or so pounds heavier, can throw just as well (if not better), and is functionally mobile. I can see Owens waiting his turn and starting in the 2027 season.

I could see another QB starting after Arch leaves- Dia Bell.

What a QB room!  Sark is killing it.

He is the same weight and half an inch taller 🤷‍♂️

CJ, any thoughts on Texas potential hire of Chicago Bears QB coach Kerry Joseph, as reported by 247?

Has a connection to Pete Carroll, as does Sarkisian.

Never hurts to bring in outside brains, especially those from the NFL. For Joseph, I would bet a Sarkisian scent would help erase the must of Matt Eberflus and Shane Waldron from his time in Chicago the last two years.

I think you (Jonas) are comparing Trey to Arch but Robert is comparing Trey's size to KJ Lacey's

Yes I was comparing Owens to Lacey and I should have been more clear on that. Thanks

AJ Miller has to start getting looks from other programs as OC. Maybe Sark is stacking up his pipeline of up next coaches, or worst case scenario having a familiar face in the room.

from the winter workouts

Arch Manning makes everyone look small, but is Lacey really 6'0" as listed on 247? Or does that listed height include the hair and his 5'10.5" from On3 more accurate?
