Moderators Jeff Howe Posted May 31, 2025 Moderators Posted May 31, 2025 It's an 8 p.m. start between the Longhorns and the Roadrunners. The winner advances to the regional championship, while the loser plays an early game on Sunday against Kansas State, needing to win twice to reach a winner-take-all affair on Monday. 4 Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted May 31, 2025 Author Moderators Posted May 31, 2025 We're still waiting for the lineup to be posted, but the expected pitching matchup is Luke Harrison (5-1, 2.98 ERA) for Texas and Braylon Owens (7-2, 4.48 ERA) for UTSA. Owens faced six batters when the Roadrunners beat the Longhorns at Disch-Falk Field on March 18, 8-7. Owens struck out one and allowed one hit in 1.2 innings. 1 Quote

Moderators Jeff Howe Posted May 31, 2025 Author Moderators Posted May 31, 2025 Pat Hallmark pulls a swerve, going with Myles instead of Owens. Since UTSA is going with a lefty, I wonder if Schloss will go with Tommy Farmer over Jonah Williams in left field? Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted May 31, 2025 Author Moderators Posted May 31, 2025 FWIW, Myles didn't pitch against Texas on March 18. Quote

Starting farmer vs lefty and bringing in Jonah if they switch to a righty later is probably the most correct move. However my debilitating inability to make rational calls when it comes to teams and players I’m passionate about are why I would let Jonah ride and I am not allowed to gamble actual money on anything. 1 1 Quote

It's basically a coin flip. What clouds it is Jonah only has nine at-bats against lefties this season (2-for-9). Farmer has more experience, but he's hitting .184 against LHP. 1 Quote

Moderators Jeff Howe Posted June 1, 2025 Author Moderators Posted June 1, 2025 UTSA took batting practice on the field. Texas chose to take BP in the indoor cages. Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted June 1, 2025 Author Moderators Posted June 1, 2025 The game is starting on ESPN+. It will switch over to SEC Network when the Duke-Georgia game in Athens goes final. 1 Quote

Moderators Jeff Howe Posted June 1, 2025 Author Moderators Posted June 1, 2025 Lytle flies out to center. One batter faced for Harrison, one out in the top of the first. Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted June 1, 2025 Author Moderators Posted June 1, 2025 Harrison hits Taussig with an 0-1 pitch. UTSA gets a runner on base with two outs. Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted June 1, 2025 Author Moderators Posted June 1, 2025 Unfortunately, Harrison leads the SEC with 20 hit batters this season. 1 Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted June 1, 2025 Author Moderators Posted June 1, 2025 Outstanding pickoff by Harrison. The inning is over on Harrison's team-leading fifth pickoff of the season. Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted June 1, 2025 Author Moderators Posted June 1, 2025 Harrison faces the minimum in the top of the first. Mendoza, Galvan and Belyeu due up in the home half. Quote
