I truly wonder how a player on the DL can look at how underwhelming DL and Edge players have been over the last 3 years at A&M and still want to go there.

Well when A&M throws money like a nympho in a whorehouse to convince guys to go to College Station, it becomes fairly clear.

NIL is the great equalizer in any big boy recruitment.  If A&M, LSU, or Miami make an insane offer like USC did for Mark Bowman, it doesn’t matter.  Most prospects at that age would not pass that up.

For some prospects it doesn’t really matter. For example, Colin Simmons was going to be an all-American even if he decided to play for East Western Idaho St.

I think Brown is going to take some development (and might end up a better OL prospect than DL) so should definitely take development under consideration along with NIL.

I actually strongly disagree. A&Ms 2022 DL class is proof of that. None of them had great careers with A&M. Even guys like Shemar Stewart, he went 1st round purely on athleticism alone. His college production was historically low for a first rounder. Then you had guys like Walter Nolen who got so much better once they left A&M.

What are you disagreeing with?  Sounds like we agree.  Colin Simmons is a rare prospect.  Most guys need development but there’s the occasional guy who’d be a stud anywhere.

Colin Simmons would not be as good at other schools as he is at Texas.

I’d say with confidence that he’d end up a 1st round draft pick at almost any real school.

Debatable and the difference between just a first round pick and a top 5 pick is massive. Like Shemar Stewart would have been likely a top 5 pick at a school that could actually develop him. Colin Simmons would be good anywhere. He wouldn’t be all time elite anywhere.

It’s not burnt orange glasses to say he would be a better player at Texas than at Texas A&M.

Texas and Clemson are the two standing out the most for 26 Buford (Ga.) EDGE Dre Quinn.

Quinn said the Texas visit was the best he’s been on so far.

I think the Longhorns did a fantastic job here.

Well yeah this whole conversation is debatable.  You can’t say what I’m saying is debatable and then provide more hypothetical’s as concrete proof.

Hi to them too. What’s your point? I do think he could be equally as good or better at Georgia. I’m not saying he is at his absolute best here or we are the only school he could reach that. I’m simply saying he wouldn’t be THIS good at ANY school.

I’m not using anything as concrete proof. I don’t think there is any concrete or correct way to view this. This whole conversation started based on hypotheticals.

My point is Simmons would be great at other schools just not Texas as you stated earlier

I don’t think he would only be great at Texas. When I said he wouldn’t be as great at other schools, I wasn’t meaning literally every other school in the country. I meant I don’t think he can go to any school and reach his ceiling like he could here. Or like he could at Georgia, OSU, etc.
