John F. Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I can’t say I love all the changes to cfb over the last few years, but I’m more excited for this Ohio state game than I have been for an early season game ever. In the preplayoff era I used to have a combination of excitement and dread for these games knowing that a loss could sink the whole season. For example, if Ohio st had won the 2005 game there’s a good chance they’d have played USC in the Rose Bowl. Looking back it was crazy that the season was always on the line in the first or second game. Now with the playoff a loss would suck, but it wouldn’t derail the whole season. I hope we continue to schedule these big time games early. I’m here for it. Quote
Assistant Regional Manager Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) I'm all for it, but we need to be sure that the committee doesn't have win/loss column bias, which I don't have a lot of confidence in right now after how we saw them handle SMU and Indiana last year. A 9-3 Texas with an out-of-conference loss to Ohio State should be treated differently than a 10-2 team that played Ball State, Akron, and Western Michigan in non-conference.
