Moderators Popular Post Gerry Hamilton Posted 14 hours ago Moderators Popular Post Posted 14 hours ago Thoughts on Arch Manning I have a number of thoughts on Arch Manning today …. 1. Any QB simply can’t miss the easy throws. Arch missed nearly every easy throw today. You can’t play QB at a high level, or be a high level team missing easy throws. End of discussion. 2. Some of the easy throws were also in critical down and distance. Those are double bad for a QB. Simply can’t do it against quality competition, period. 3. Ohio State is uber talented team and quality team. Statistically, this will be Arch’s worst game of the season. 4. Arch’s legs will be a major asset as the season moves along. Again, this will be as talented of a D as Texas faces. And this was on the road with months to prepare. 5. Arch has to get more comfortable in the pocket. Again, high end competition, but he had too many throws without balance in the pocket today to be an accurate QB. 6. What I’m expecting the next three games. Texas will overwhelm lesser opponents with talent. There will be big games statistically, big play TD’s and talk about how much the Texas offense will have improved. I will be in wait and see mode. The next test isn’t lambs getting paid to come to Austin and get taken to the woodshed… it’s at Florida. 7. Arch will play better. That’s easy to see and predict. But the question comes down to how much better as the season moves along. Texas has a playoff defense - zero doubt in my mind. But Sark and Arch have a lot to prove if they will end up with a playoff level offense. Other topics: 1. Texas run game has a chance this year. If that’s the start, can’t wait to see the finish. 2. Texas’ defense will give the team the opportunity to be in every game this season. 3. The season isn’t over. But the margin for error is down to one game. That amps up the pressure the rest of the season. And the pressure is on Sark after that stinker of a game plan today. 54 Quote

Joe Zura Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago The fact Sark had his QB in the 3rd year of the system in training wheels most of the game I just couldn’t get behind. But this is coming from an idiot who watched the game from the couch. Anyway Hookem 🤘🏼🤘 only can have one more loss long season ahead we got this 14 Quote
f1revo Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago We were moving the ball great from the jump, and would've had balance of Arch could hit the easy throws. I also think the penalties killed our momentum. Like, Wingo false starting...what the hell? That was the difference in the game today. Every piece of field position we earned by out rushing and being more physical than OSU and having a hellacious punter, was thrown away by bizarre untimely penalties. 1 Quote
NothinButDaHorns34 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago It could be worse. We could be down by 10 at halftime like #8 bama to an unranked FSU team that just went 2-10 less than a year ago. 5 Quote

Waxahorn Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I'm not sure the backup QB shouldn't have been inserted for a series. Seemed like Arch had a case of the nerves. 1 Quote

The biggest takeaways being at the game were 1) Kick the damn FG and take points. We would’ve won had he kicked the 3x we were in FG range. 2) Receivers were open all over the field, especially Endries and Arch wouldn’t see them. 3) We had almost double their offensive output, no reason we should’ve lost that, killed ourselves with penalties a couple of times (3x we extended their 1st TD drive). 4) Run game is going to be great. We have to take it out of Arch’s hands until he gets more settled in. He looked like he started to find the right guys the last half of the 4th quarter. Way too little too late, but the point is, things were there and he will find them once he gets settled in. 5) And lastly, yes, Ohio state fans are REALLY that big of douche bags. Glad I waited until my 40s to come to this game bc it would’ve been bad had i still been in my 20s/30s when I was still more of a hot head. We walked 2.5 miles from the stadium back to our AirBnB and got accosted by “townies” the entire way. Hard luck to them and we will beat them if we see them again in playoffs. Hook’em. 8 1 Quote
Bunk Moreland Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Dumb question: is it time to take a long look at AJ Milwee? He has had two #1 overall qb recruits, plus two mid/high four-stars in Card and Murphy. Arch had a lot of the same mechanics issues today that Quinn had: side-arming throws, throwing off his back foot, bad footwork under pressure. It’s unacceptable that he has not produced an elite qb in 5 years with all this talent. Not saying Arch won’t get there, but it almost felt like he regressed compared with last year. Milwee (and Sark) are dramatically underperforming relative to other position coaches on campus. 5 1 1 Quote

HDub1995 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Agree on everything except the last point. With how CFP changed the SOS review this year, this game won’t hurt Texas much. 9-3 and I still think they get in. The plan from Sark was really bad. It’s like he just forgets who he is against top 5 teams. 2-12 record is not good, and indicative that he can’t get over the hump. We will see. Quote

If you had told me that we would double up their rushing yards, hold Sayin to 126, and hold J Smith to under 50, I would have told you that we probably won by 10+. 2 Quote

Not a long release like Raiola. I don’t have any issue with Arch’s arm action … I like it. Too many heel throws today IMO … he has the right person (David Morris) around him and people to be more consistent as he gets more game reps 6 Quote

UTexas Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Bad Qb play. Bad O line play. Too many penalties again. There are a lot of things that have to be fixed. 1 Quote

The OL made me really excited. Perhaps OSU doesn't have a championship caliber DL this year, but that was still a great performance from our guys. Quote

The oline was fine. Arch held onto the ball way too long. They had massive push in the run game and Arch was fairly clean even with how long he held it. 7 Quote
