Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted March 16 Moderators Share Posted March 16 We talked about this Friday on Longhorn Livestream a little … More teams in CFB have hope moving forward IMO … Steve Spurrier would have had 2-3 playoff teams at South Carolina … think about a fan base like that who hasn’t had much hope over the years … would have been in the playoffs multiple years
Robert Gilbert
Watching it now. There were just so many good UT teams during that decade.

Robert Gilbert
I agree with the panel that at least 8 of the decade’s teams make the playoffs, possibly all 10. Rod’s statement about Mack coaching scared brought back memories. No knock on Mack but Ced B’s career didn’t really begin till after the OU game his Fr. year. His unwillingness to open up the offense, especially early in the decade, could have cost UT some games.
GoHorns1
Mack’s firing of OL Tim Nunez was a mistake. Tim recruited the 2005 OL. Tim’s recruited the last OL to be drafted in Tony Hills 2007. Mack absolutely coached scared and not to lose until 2004.
Hornmatic
Great discussion, but can’t believe all three of y’all confused the 2006 team with 2007. 2006 six was championship caliber with the exception of freshman colt at qb. But both lines and many skill positions were stout. We went on a run after the Ohio St loss only to falter after Colt got knocked out of KSU and A&M games. Maybe would have missed the playoff but only due to Colt’s injury. Definitely a good team to be proud of. 07 was the disaster with nailbiters against Arkansas St and UCF. Defense was terrible and the offense inconsistent despite JamChuck’s brilliance. Even John Chiles got some legit snaps at qb. The only good thing about this season was Macduff getting fired so that Muschamp could be brought in for the 08-09 run. Good topic, fun discussion. His skepticism about 07 also correct.
