  • Brandon Brown Final Decision (Friday 2:00 p.m.)

    CJ Vogel

Four-star Eau Gallie (Fla.) defensive lineman Brandon Brown has made his decision – and Brown is headed to LSU.

The relationship with Bo Davis ends up being the ultimate factor here for the Florida native. Folks in his corner were clear about the relationship and belief in Davis who was the first defensive line coach to buy into the potential of Brown almost a full year ago.

Brown had been committed to Texas since December and now leaves the Longhorns without an interior lineman in the class.

Lots of work to be done heading into the season on the trail.

    F*ck him.  Next up.

I don't think we have a next up after DJ Sanders.  No other DT's were evaluated Texas worthy by the staff.

Word. Keep perspective. These kids aren’t malicious. And from the intel we have been given all along Brandon was having a lot of family pressure to follow Bo. Good luck to him. Wish him the best. We will be ok.

Or taking your time hiring NFL asst coaches instead of proven college coaches didn't help either.  We lost the top 2 WR's in the state the last 2 years as well.

My original was in post in the wrong thread.

On Brown, I really don't have any animosity.  He always loved his Davis relationship and this seemed inevitable.  Just wished he would have flipped back when it first came up.

Last year doesn't count since Texas wanted Wingo a lot more than they wanted Micah Hudson, Should be a lot more concerned that Texas hasn't signed(Counting Zion Williams this year) the top DT in the state in the last three cycles

Probably the worst few weeks of recruiting I can remember, football misses and decomitts, and 0 for 10 Aggie baseball players following Schloss to the 40 Acres...

I don’t see any issues, Sark has similar momentum in recruiting as Nick Saban and Kirby Smart had when they were going into year four, ops I mean the exact opposite of that.

No, Sark hiring an NFL assistant with zero recruiting experience and or relationships hurt Texas.

If the DT/DL recruiting looks similar to this next Summer, than maybe time to panic. We have to give Baker some time to develop relationships.

We should all know Bo is an assassin when Sark hired him. He has never stayed at one school for more than a few years.

Yup.  He’ll be gone in a year or 2 back to the NFL.  Or maybe out to Oregon if his son gets hired on staff there.

Bobby said that Texas will still recruit Moore.

Well, Justin at IT posted he believes Texas will not continue to recruit Moore because Moore DID NOT notify Texas of his decision.

I’m sure Sarks thoughts on hiring Baker were that he could get Baker talent based on winning games and portal to give Baker a few seasons of current roster player and recruiting relationship development. We have to give Kenny some time to marinate.

Some of you guys are seriously acting like kids right now. Sark hiring Kenny Baker didn’t hurt us, losing Bo hurt us and we knew that would happen. It’s so crazy that a guy we had recruit all these guys on the DL for a while went to LSU and now they follow him as well, especially given the fact that he was a fairly big part of T’Vondre’s and Byron’s success in being high draft picks for that position.

But let’s act like this hire as trash as if we didn’t hire a WR coach from the NFL who landed us a 5 star last year. The dude literally just got hired not even half a year ago and people are acting like this is a horrible hire 🤣

Is LSU blaming their previous DL coach today? Absolutely not because LSU hired a coach with recruiting experience and relationships, and is in turn landing recruits. Sark hired a coach with zero relationships or recruiting experience and has whiffed on every target he got to take an official visit. This isn’t Bo Davis fault, our loan commit was a a player Bo got to commit to Texas, Baker couldn’t convince him to stay and he gave him a real chance. Texas fans LOVE to blame previous coaches for the current coaches shortcomings, it’s a favorite, a continuous tag line. Surprised Herman isn’t at fault for us struggling on the recruiting trail this year in all honesty.
