  • Four-Star DL to Visit Texas for Spring Game (Saturday 3:23 p.m.)

Four-star Lake Travis DL Gus Cordova to visit Texas for Spring Game

Texas will receive an unofficial visit from 2025 Lake Travis defensive end Gus Cordova for the Texas spring game on April 20.

Cordova has continued to be recruited by the Longhorns since his visit for the junior day in January and told me in February that the staff has continued to be actively pursuing him.

The Lake Travis EDGE also locked in an official visit to USC for June 21-23.

The next couple of months will be loaded with unofficial visits. Cordova told me last month he hoped to get up to as many as nine campuses in the months of March and April.

If culture is such a big thing for sark like he portrays then former players from last seasons team tweeting out the story should be all he needs for this kid to be a hard pass

Former players (keywords) .. The guy was 15-16 years old also .. so can a kid mature a bunch in 2-3 years? I think so .. I did stuff I’m not proud of at that age at least it didn’t affect the rest of my life .

Gerry/CJ, I think a more important question(you know since people can get a bit of tunnel vision) would be, where does he fall on the DL board?

does the kid get a seat on the bus if he wants it today? Or is Texas keeping that recruitment warm while prioritizing other targets?

thanks for reporting the facts yall! Hook’em.

That has to play out. But colleges, Texas included, really like him at 5 tech with frame growth

You don’t need to be promoted him all over Twitter. Why don’t you ask some hard-hitting questions to Sark like why are they still pursuing him? What do you think of Byron Murphy, Xavier and Jonathan Brooks promoting the story of Gus knowingly trying to poison him? You know, kind of like a reporter would?

If OTF didnt post this news, than no Texas fans/public would know that Texas is still recruiting Cordova.

Sitting on this information because it is sensitive would have been carrying water for Texas and Sark

Give me a break with the BS. Take it somewhere else, seriously.

Any reason why Texas seems to like Cordova at 5 Tech more than prospects like Malcolm Simpson and Michael Riles?

And he commits to Southern Cal so no more negative press for Texas on this guy…

Good news, but I have the sneaking suspicion this guy was never coming to Texas. We need to maintain a good relationship with a local team that manufactures talent, like Lake Travis, and publicly dragging the kid would probably not have gone over well with the LT coaches. No need to burn bridges. Just publicly state that the kid is still being recruited while telling him behind closed doors that he should look elsewhere.

Or maybe (and more likely) that's just the fiction I'm telling myself so I can maintain my regard for the Texas staff.
