Four-star EDGE locks in Texas official visit

Four-star EDGE Smith Orogbo (Alief, Texas/Hastings) told OnTexasFootball Tuesday morning that he has locked in an official visit to Texas.

Orogbo, 6-5 and 218, will officially visit the Longhorns June 14-16. That is the same weekend that EDGE commitment Lance Jackson (Texarkana, Texas/Pleasant Grove) and target Hayden Lowe (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian) will make official visits to Texas.

The official visit will be the second time the Houston area explosive EDGE rush prospect will be on campus. He's also scheduled to make an unofficial visit April 6.

Orogbo will also make an official visit to SMU in Mid-May with trips to USC, Oregon and Oklahoma State also on the table.

Texas offered Orogbo January 22 when area recruiter Jeff Banks made a stop at Hastings High. Since that time, the long-armed and twitchy prospect has been in contact with Steve Sarkisian, Pete Kwiatkowski and Jeff Banks

    Gerry,

Thanks!!!  This answers my question from the Best Case Scenario thread regarding Texas interest in Orogbo.  How do you not take this guy.  Length and speed!  Just have to work on his stance and get off...no standing up allowed........LOL!

Lol. A lot of upside with Orogbo

Interested if Texas goes after 2 or 3 EDGE guys in the class. Already have one. Texas loves Hayden Lowe ... Damien Shanklin is a big ND lean headed into April.

Good question.  With a great LB class in the making it might be two, but again this guy has SOOOO much upside. I say three if you can get them.  If Lance continues to add weight he might slide to a 3 tech and Smith has the ideal frame to be a GREAT DE with development.  Speed KILLS!

Great Buck with a couple of years of development. Dude comes fast off the edge. Very athletic. Great pair with LJ on the other end. Then get one of the 2 OOS guys and thats a great edge class.

Orogbo is the same body type as Simmons. Orogbo has quickness but not the strength of Simmons. I'll beat this drum all day. Orogbo will be a 5*.

@Gerry Hamilton any chance Kenny Baker makes his way out to see RyShawn Perry? Looks like he's starting to get some more attention

I think so ... can't figure out why it took colleges and our industry so long to figure this one out

I watched his Jr. highlight after you mentioned him a while back and he jumped off the screen. However, I went back and watched again last night and accidentally watched his sophomore film for a couple minutes by accident. Different player. He improved significantly from Soph to Jr. season. If he makes a similar jump this season he'll be near the top of a lot of boards.
