Former Washington cornerback Jabbar Muhammad, a second-team All-Pac 12 selection in 2023, and his family made an official visit to Texas on Wednesday and Thursday. Muhammad, who recorded three interceptions for the national runner-ups this season, is slated to visit Alabama today and Oregon next week. If Muhammad plans on enrolling at Texas, he must make a decision no later than Jan. 30, which is the last day to enroll in classes at Texas for the spring term. Texas is said to have made a favorable impression on the visit and is thought to be the front-runner, though Oregon could make things even more interesting. Of course, Muhammad also has a lot of familiarity with the new staff at Alabama given his time playing for Kalen DeBoer at Washington. View full news

Welcome to On Texas Football (or in this instance, OnTexasFootball.com)! We hope you'll become part of the conversation on your favorite team - The Texas Longhorns. As we begin a new era, we have a few rules, rules that we hope allow us all to enjoy the site and enjoy the team we root for. Please follow these: 1. No in-fighting among members. Sure, grown men can disagree. But grown men (or women) don't call each other names. 2. This site and discussion is about the Texas Longhorns. It's not about how one of us is any smarter or dumber than the other, about how one site or other is better than another, etc. 3. Keep in mind that sarcasm is often difficult to decipher in text form. 4. We're just getting started here, so you'll see new features and items pop up almost daily over the next several weeks. At times there will likely be hiccups because of that. Please exercise patience during those times, even if there's a commitment about to happen. 😉 5. Ask questions of myself, CJ, Blake, etc. And ask questions of one another. Again, the real key here is to have a place where all Texas fans can come together, learn more about the team they care about, and discuss the ins and outs of the team, recruiting and more. We really hope you enjoy OnTexasFootball.com. We hope it becomes a daily stop on your quest for the best in Longhorn news, information and discussion. Thanks for stopping by and please consider joining in the conversation now. It's super easy to sign up and get started. Hook'Em! P.S. If you sign up, you will get a verification email. You may need to check your spam filter for that email verification since OnTexasFootball.com is a new sender of emails. Thanks!

One of the best to ever do it has decided to stay in Arizona rather than return to Texas, according to a social media post made by the coach. Duane Akina, one of the architects of Texas' DBU in the 2000s, mulled a return to Texas this off-season in a role that would have made him an analyst and special assistant to head coach Steve Sarkisian. However, Akina was recently offered an on-field role with Arizona subsequent to the hiring of Brent Brennan as new head coach of the Wildcats. Good luck to Coach Akina! View full news

Alabama transfer linebacker Kendrick Blackshire has committed to Texas. Originally from Duncanville, Texas, Blackshire signed with the Crimson Tide out of high school despite overtures from the Longhorns. Blackshire was a back-up linebacker for the Crimson Tide last season, recording 16 tackles in 2023. He is seen primarily as a run-stopping linebacker who also is a special teams stand out. Blackshire is the sixth pledge the Horns have received from the NCAA transfer portal joining his former Alabama teammate Isaiah Bond, a wide receiver, defensive back Andrew Mukuba from Clemson, and wide receivers Silas Bolden of Oregon State and Matthew Golden of Houston. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian wasted no time focusing on receiver Isaiah Bond, the Alabama receiver, when Bond officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Friday. Sarkisian made a beeline to Bond’s Georgia home the very day he entered the portal. The next day, Bond was on an official visit to Austin. And the day following that? Bond decided to become a Longhorn. Bond made 48 catches for 668 yards and four TDs in 2023 for the Crimson Tide. He is known for his elite speed, winning the Georgia state 100- and 200-meter in high school. Bond is the second receiver Sark has identified and recruited from the transfer portal this campaign, following the earlier commitment of Houston’s Matthew Golden, himself also noted for his elite speed. Sark is busy replacing a ton of production in his receiving corps. His top five pass catchers from last year are all headed to the NFL. Not only wide receivers Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell and Jordan Whittington, but also JT Sanders and Jonathon Brooks. View full article
