  1. Was listening to the spring preview episode for the DBs last night. Really exciting times in that room, with a lot of competition going on. However, I noticed Warren Roberson wasn't mentioned at all. He seemed like one guy that has the potential to really benefit from the staff changes and open competition. Had some costly mistakes on special teams, but the slate has been wiped clean to some extent. Has he been recruited over? Still fighting for a spot at Star? I know he was always a high effort guy that needed some time to develop coming out of Red Oak. Curious what his outlook is, given the last two recruiting classes.
  2. Kade’s dad I presume? Classy if so. Teamwork makes the dream work. 🤘
  3. Any chance Dalton Johnson or Genesis Smith want to re-enter the portal and come with for their last year?
  4. What’s Kevin Ollie up to these days? Show cause is expired.
  5. great response, and really helpful in understanding what's going on out there (sincerely, another basketball casual)
  6. My superstitious take: the pre-Sark decade was a curse for how the fanbase treated Garrett Gilbert. Did he play well? Absolutely not! Should we ever boo one of our own players? Never, in my opinion. Sitting in the stands as a student while boos rained down on him was the most disappointed I've ever been in our fanbase. Always perceived us as classier than that, but it was one helluva fall from grace on and off the field. And that toxicity carried for a long time. I remember hearing folks boo Sam at times and getting into vitriolic arguments with them. I think we're in a better place now, though I was worried with the Quinn discourse for a bit that we were tilting back to our old ways. Winning keeps the hounds to a reasonable level of "discourse" I guess.
  7. Seen at Ohio State vs Penn State, November 2019
  8. This week is personal. I met my wife at UT in 2013. Little did I know what I was getting into. Turns out, she's from a family of Buckeyes. Her mom and dad are both Ohio State alumni. All of their family friends, die-hards. For a long time, it was fine. My wife balanced dual allegiances with ease, as the two teams haven't faced each other since the Fiesta Bowl in 2009 and Texas always gets priority on our TV (though shoutout YouTube TV's multiview). But now we've got a real life house-divided on our hands. Funny story about that Fiesta Bowl. My sister-in-law also went to Texas and was a junior at the time. She's a proud Texas-Ex, burdened by the same familial split allegiances. However, when it came down to it, she was all-in on the Horns of course, rocking her burnt orange and cheering the Longhorns to a Fiesta Bowl victory in an epic game. My father-in-law took her to that game. He... did not have as great of a time. He stormed out of the game and, unable to bear the Texas celebrations and the Eyes of Texas, told her to find her own way back to the car. That's a story that's been told countless times at family gatherings over the years, hilarious every time. All-in-all, I've enjoyed being married to a family that's as invested in football as I am. I've been to "The Game" and multiple other games in The Shoe. They've been some of the most fun football game experiences and most raucous crowds I've been a part of. Though, I always approached with the awareness of how Ohio State fans are, how they treated Texas fans when we went up to Columbus. When I could blend, it was a great time. There's no blending this time. My father-in-law passed away in 2019, but we're taking my mother-in-law to the game and she is a DIE HARD. She's made bets with her Longhorn friends (wagering buckeye chocolates for chocolate longhorns). She flies an Ohio State flag outside of her Texas home, is donned from head to toe in Buckeye gear every Saturday, and I think the Ohio State ornaments outnumber all others on her Christmas tree. She's given me multiple unsolicited actual buckeye nuts over the years "for luck." I have carried one in my work bag faithfully over the years, but it has been removed and placed in a drawer for the week. I have a hilarious video of her storming out of a delayed Thanksgiving gathering in 2022 for a cool down, following the Buckeyes' third straight loss to Michigan. She's already griping about having to sit on the Texas side (she's outnumbered 3 to 1 at this point), though she's "feeling pretty good" about the Buckeyes' chances. I can't wait to arrive back in Texas for this game. It'll be a family affair. The air will be tense (and cold). The family has issued a frosty gag order to maintain the peace leading up to the game. I believe in the Horns. I very much dislike Ryan Day. Let's get it done. I'm looking forward to finding my own way back to the car 🤘. Hook em
  9. I really enjoy Quinn stories blowing up the day before our games. Like clockwork smh.
  10. QB3 is out here defending QB1’s decision making on social media, responding to a post from a rival site asking why Quinn slid in the backfield. Just another small testament to the togetherness of this squad. Seems like the entire team (Sark most notably) is tired of folks nitpicking 3 and ruining the vibes.
  11. They have their set up that's working, but I'm putting it out there that I would gladly pay for an ad-free Patreon sub to OTF.
  12. Those and the Durbin credit card bill were wearing me so thin.
  13. Spotify seems better on my end today fwiw @Bobby Burton! Still a couple of the automatic ads but much fewer than the past few weeks. Thanks for looking into it!
  14. Have had this issue too on Spotify. To be clear, it's not the in-show ad reads, it's the automatically interspersed national/local ads. They turn a 20 minute segment into 30+ all while replaying the same drinking and driving or credit card legislation ads ad nauseum. Can make for a terrible listening experience sometimes.
  15. Love Justice and his family. Loyal, true Longhorns no matter where they go. Felt like his mom played a real big role with parents in recruiting and was a vocal supporter of the culture on social media. Justice just undersized, but a great mentality. Nothing but love, hope he goes on to do great things somewhere.
  16. Seems less than ideal adding another Prime/Colorado level threat in the portal (during a really important window for Texas)? Am I overestimating Bill/UNC's ability to replicate what they've done in Boulder?
  17. Dad looks absolutely gobsmacked here.
  18. "His embroidery was in red" "He said 'dawg'" "He had friends in the class" 😭😭😭😭
  19. Big year for Bueckers. Should be fun to watch. Really excited to see how our blend of young talent and experienced leadership comes together this season. The interview y'all did with Shay Holle a few weeks ago was awesome and shed some good light on the team dynamics!
  20. 1) he won a conference championship and went to the playoffs and signed a top 5 class with a wife 2) his wife has played no small part in making Texas "cool" again. From small things like gameday outfits to bigger things like her relationship with the players (Worthy and others seemed to have a close bond with her) her contributions have all been great additions to the culture of Texas football and Texas athletics. Not to mention she played a major part in his journey to even get here and, if you believe the rumors, was a factor in him not jumping when Bama opened up.
  21. As a Giants fan, it's Barry or Willie Mays. As an L.A. resident, it sure is fun to watch Ohtani make history and I absolutely love Mookie, rivalry be damned.
  22. Solid read! Love Kiff, and especially love troll Kiff on Twitter sending shots all over the place.
  23. F*** it, I'm 6'1 225 and have eligibility. Put me in coach.
