  1. I agree. The committee is dictating that all they care about is loss count. We already play a 9 game SEC schedule. We don't need more SOS so high profile non-conference games are just for the TV networks. You know what make us more money? Making the playoffs and winning championships and we risk that continuing the dice roll non-conference games.

  2. I fully expect us to only go up 1 spot on Tuesday's CFP ranking passing Michigan. It's clear the AP and committee after the third loss against Georgia had ruled Texas out of the playoffs. They will not take a 3 loss team if there are teams available with fewer. That's the only explanation at this point. Because it's only us that doesn't seem to be getting any credit for who we've beaten (this week's ranking is prime example). How can we not be above Vanderbilt beating them head to head, with a better SOS, and better wins? Just shows you their priority system is:
    1st - number of losses
    2nd - who you've lost to
    3rd - who you've beaten
    4th - head to head

With 3rd and 4th potentially not even counting when it comes to Texas.

Carlton has been a surprise, South Carolina is one of the few teams who can play multiple athletes who stick to Booker all over the court on defense.  It put a lot of pressure on the other players to score.  It will help when the injured players return.  The rematch in Columbia will be tough.

Yea SC will always be physically bigger than us. That's how they are always built. We just have to beat them with defensive energy, execution from our guards/Booker, and some inside presence here and there. I think this year's game in Columbus will be more competitive even if they win.

  4. Way to go ladies!! Rory gets MVP but Justice Carlton should get honorable mention. If it wasn't for her hustle and physicality, we wouldn't have gotten as many offensive rebounds and Edwards would have gone off on us. She impressed me the most this tournament since I didn't think she was anything special after last year.

I wish Jordan Lee knew she was a dawg. When she realizes it, look out. They should have been setting her up the last 2 possession instead of Booker given the defense.
Imagine how much better we'd do with Crump, Preston, and Judd giving Booker, Harmon, and Lee a breather. Going to be another special year for the girls.

  5. That first half was beautiful and efficient. The fatigue set in once the 2nd half started though. You could tell Booker and Lee didn't have the legs but Harmon carried hard. That might have been Rory's best game I've seen in 3 years. She looked like the old Rory on offense tonight hitting her midrange shots.

Not sure we can outlast South Carolina without Crump and Preston but the team looks tournament ready already. Should at least put up a good fight.

  6. Crittendon is basically Aaliyah Crump (super skilled offensively and physically strong) but 2 inches taller. Bjorn looks like a good outside shooter but it'll be good to see if she can translate physically to the P4 college game. This class is looking solid for Vic. The future is bright.

  7. Oldacre with a knee injury is concerning going into the UCLA game. We were ready to wreck them healthy so I hope she can get back to 100% this week. A Betts vs Oldacre matchup would be awesome to watch.

One last thing, I think Jordan Lee is going to be a special player for us the remaining 3 years she's here. Her offensive and defensive development this offseason has been next level. She's our best and cleanest defender and our best 3 pt shooter that can get nice mid range shots off the dribble too. She is NOT a role player and I hope Vic is putting her on a path to lead our team the next couple years once Maddie and Rory are gone. She keeps developing year after year and gets a little stronger, with some playmaking, she could be an Azzi Fudd type for us.

  8. Sark once again is out of touch with game planning, in game decisions, and recognizing the strength of his team when it comes to the running game. One mistake (penalty, turnover, etc) and he gives up on the running game. It took him a while to commit to running most the season when we had bijan and roschon. The rushing game is just a throw in once the passing game is effective or when his back is against the wall. When he has choices, it will always favor the passing game. This cost us the Washington game 2 years ago. It hurt us in the Ohio State games and multiple games this year. Sark is predictable in this way at this point. Coaches know this. It's not a coincidence that Georgia and most teams just play 3 back now to force Sark to do things he doesn't want to. Georgia didn't do anything fancy on defense. They just keep testing Sark's patience and he kept trying to press from a passing standpoint.

Look at the Georgia RB's the last 3 years and look at ours. They are physical runners and no necessarily with elite speed. We gave up on Gibson too early and put too many eggs in the Baxter basket. We need to fully commit and recruit more dawgs on RB/OL and less speed.

If one listens to Kirby’s post game PC, he mentioned “Texas kids” on Georgia team

and said this in response to a question …

“It’s what we build our core culture around, being the more physical team and you have to recruit physical players… I don’t know that, a lot of these kids want a check. They don’t want physicality. If you have the check and no physicality, you end with nothing. You’re not just getting checks at our place. We’re hitting people.”

That is clearly aimed at two recruits in his mind, and future recruits in head-to-head battles

He should. But if he's misrepresenting things ofc. Our defense (which he's mostly talking about defensive players recruiting wise) is plenty physical. If he's going to tell me Colin Simmons and Ant Hill are not out there smashing people, he's lying. Lance Jackson and Justus Terry (Or Atkinson and Johnson) will get plenty of run and bring plenty of physicality next year.

  10. We got out physical-ed no question in the first game in Austin, but last night was less physicality in my mind than it was personnel, discipline, and focus. Georgia just has bigger and better players on the line right now. That's not our players not wanting to get in there and fight but it's just they are bigger and stronger than our OL and tack on the fact we hold on to jerseys too long, it exacerbates the situation. Our defensive line and LBs did fine against the run until they wore out in the 2nd half.

The narrative would be so much different if Auburn would have just made the FG in the SEC championship. People are forgetting we didn't get outplayed in that game even though it was ugly, We should have won that game in regulation.

  11. If that's the case, then I don't agree with the sentiments to get the running game going this week. We should push the throttle down even further with tempo and short passes to start and attacking down the field later. I'm confident we'll score points, it's the other side of the ball that worries me in that game. Gunnar Stockton hasn't been sacked much this year and our secondary is very shaky right now with Taffe and McDonald banged up. We can't count on Guillbeau and Littleton to shutdown their assignments all game. Wouldn't be surprised if it takes 32+ pts to win this game.

  12. The million dollar question for me right now is what would the ceiling be for this season if Quinn wasn’t chased out to an extent versus what we know of Arch now? Do you think Quinn could take this OL and offense to the playoffs? I have a hard time believing Arch can develop enough this season to get us there but Im not 100% sure Quinn could either with this OL.

It will be a bad look for Sark and this staff if Arch ends up being a bust. Let’s hope that’s not the case.

  13. Commitments are soft these days with NIL. If we decide to adjust our NIL strategy and take more of a risky approach regarding the house settlement, then we'll flip a number of guys in the fall. Things seem to always fall in our favor every November/December so I'm expecting the same this year.
