It will be better but his issues are still issues even against bad defenses. He didn't play that well and threw 50% completion rate against UTSA (120 ranked). He'll have a few more good drives but we'll still see a fair share of 3 and outs. If he just throws to whoever McClain is defending this week, Arch will look like a Heisman candidate. 😄

In regards to the playoff committee, this loss will hurt us like the Florida one did last year. OU is not a good team and will rack up more losses. If we have 3 losses we will be in a similar dilemma we were in last year because the committee has shown they only care about how many losses you have and who you lost to. They don't care who you've beaten. I hope they understand that and the urgency is at code red.

I'm glad you and CJ are speaking the harsh truth. He has most of the attributes you want in a good QB but right now he lacks the most important one which is the one between the ears. His decision making is at freshman level in many ways right now. I don't know if it's the fault of his coaches (Texas and private) and their teaching styles (Quinn struggled too) or if it's just Arch not having the ability to process and pick up new things fast. He's been in Sark's system 3+ years and studied film (being a film junky) and the playbook but what he shows on the field really make him look like he doesn't have enough competency in the plays and system. His reads are slow and doesn't seem to have a high understanding of how certain plays fit with certain defenses. You can tell by where his eyes start and where they go in the first 2-3 secs of a snap. The reality is he is behind as a 4th year player and his window is closing fast. Sark can't waste the rest of the team waiting on something that may never happen. Sark hasn't done him any favors like he didn't set Quinn up well early on either. He struggles with rhythm and progressions at this level. I can't even imagine how much he'd struggle in the NFL . Unfortunately, I don't think Sark will even pull the plug on Manning even if it's necessary because he's too all in with the Manning family. Arch is likely to want to come back next season and create a scenario Sark avoided last year since Quinn opted to leave. Unfortunately the casualty in all of this maybe KJ Lacey. We'll all keep hoping some miraculous A'ha moment happens for him but at this point, it's fair to wonder if it will ever happen.

Has Kyle Flood shown any ability to develop HS centers? Cruz was a disaster and if Christian was any good, he'd be getting some reps somewhere. He was the one responsible for the Cole Hutson at center experiment to start last season. Something tells me Cole Hutson will be 2nd string once he gets on the roster and he's up to speed. Center is one of the most important pieces and we haven't had anyone with a NFL future at that position since Majors. Our leaders are Simmons and Manning that both made mistakes at crucial moments at the end of the game. Vasek (another upperclassman) missing a block on the punt protection. The failure is across the board but less on the defense only giving up 13 points. You don't win many games when your offense and special teams gives up 14 points. So sure those guys haven't been in that game, but they didn't lose us this game as much as some of the vets did.

Not sure why Royal would come to Florida or Texas with the QB play at both right now. If I'm Sark and staff, I'd spend more money and time trying to get Legree in the portal.

Watching Majors start for the Eagles today for the first time and playing well makes me appreciate him that much more. If I see another replay of Robertson being thrown to the side like a ragdoll, I'm not going to have any more hairs on my head. Let's spend our money in the portal on a center please.

Agree the drops are a big problem, but Arch needs to improve as well. From what I can see rewatching the first 2 games, it's all about decision making and competency of his plays and reads. He has a bad habit of staying on his first read too long because he's optimistic that the route can develop into something if given an extra 1-2 secs. The issue is that the play is not designed for QBs to wait like that. The coaches really need to instill in him an internal metronome. Each tick is a read and progression. If it's not there you MUST go to the next read no matter what. For me it's disrespecting the play designer and callers when you don't execute them correctly assuming no protection breakdowns. By mid to late season, he'll have a lot of reps on most of the plays which should help but he needs to spend more time on the cerebral side of quarterbacking if he wants to be a viable NFL QB. Talk to Uncle Peyton more than Uncle Eli. That said, he can still get us a natty but his ceiling is much higher than that if he can develop the discipline and meticulous side of playing football.

Good win! The blocking and defense was MUCH better today. Andersen, Bunton, and Harvey were stuffing people today. I felt like Binney was in one less block rotation too but could be wrong. The hitting was not the greatest but good enough.

If he's not 100%, not worth adding him to the game plan. He won't be effective without maximum power against OSU.

At this rate, we won't make the tournament. We have to figure it out in the next 2-3 weeks or this season will be lost. The SEC is loaded with top teams. We not going to make the tournament with 10+ losses.

Elliot plays Ella for 1/3 of the rotations tonight against SMU and she won most of her point opportunities while Binney was the opposite. Watching teams constantly attack her is getting tiresome. They're going to point to the 2 blocks she had as progress but it really isn't. She doesn't get the height to get tips and stuffs that Ella does. Not to mention the leadership and fire Ella brings to her teammates. We see it on the TV screen. How doesn't he see this? It's taking way too long to see the obvious for Elliot. How many more losses is it going to take?

Tempo is an issue too (lots of issue right now), but did you watch last game again Louisville? They attacked Binney every single time she was blocking on the left. To the point that the commentators were talking about how big an issue having the "undersized" Binney blocking. The concerning part right now is Elliot and the staff are either stubborn or slow to understand the makeup of this team. They better figure this out or this season will be a waste.

Going back to the 5-1 is good but I don't know why you don't put Ella at setter and move Binney to backline defender. Ella is such a great blocker and server and Binney is a very good defender and a terrible blocker. It's basically a free point every rotation when she has to block the left side.

Give it until December. This one is going to be a long one. I imagine if it comes to it, we will write a much larger check than LSU or Indiana to get one of them. But no question Coach O has some of that Mack Brown magic in the living room and clearly it's worked on Royal.

Guitterez was huge and everyone got a hit or walk the last 2 days to contribute to this chip. Mike White and the staff did a fantastic job this year. Teagan Kavan has passed Cat in my mind as our Longhorn GOAT college career wise. Nobody better in the post season than Kavan in our history. If she 3 peats, she'll be one of the greatest in all softball.

Stewart and the bats were hot today. It bodes well that our players got 1 1/3 inning look at Canady today. Gotta hope both of their pitchers don't have their stuff again tomorrow. Kavan could end up being our GOAT if we win this year and 3 peats next year. It's going to be interesting to see if we start her tomorrow or save her for a decider like last year.

For Vic, who plays usually stems from how they are playing defensively versus offensively. He pulled Crump and Carlton early in games because of how poor they played defense at times. He did this with Lee as well against UCLA when she just didn't have the same intensity she normally has. Booker shooting 3-23 and Lee 2-17 are anomalies. Shooters will shoot and you have to run with who got you there. Nobody would ever predict Booker would shoot 13%. She wasn't tired, she was just missing easy shots. That being said, I would have liked Vic taking her out of the game for 1-2 minutes early just to talk to her and get her in a different mindset when she missed 7-8 shots in a row after the first bucket. But Vic gets us to the finals if Booker shoots 6-23 instead which is terrible for her as well. Just very unfortunate we low rolled in the final four and now in the off season.

Rori is making that roster. She played super well in the preseason game and nobody defends the PG like she does.
