Agree the drops are a big problem, but Arch needs to improve as well. From what I can see rewatching the first 2 games, it's all about decision making and competency of his plays and reads. He has a bad habit of staying on his first read too long because he's optimistic that the route can develop into something if given an extra 1-2 secs. The issue is that the play is not designed for QBs to wait like that. The coaches really need to instill in him an internal metronome. Each tick is a read and progression. If it's not there you MUST go to the next read no matter what. For me it's disrespecting the play designer and callers when you don't execute them correctly assuming no protection breakdowns. By mid to late season, he'll have a lot of reps on most of the plays which should help but he needs to spend more time on the cerebral side of quarterbacking if he wants to be a viable NFL QB. Talk to Uncle Peyton more than Uncle Eli. That said, he can still get us a natty but his ceiling is much higher than that if he can develop the discipline and meticulous side of playing football.

Good win! The blocking and defense was MUCH better today. Andersen, Bunton, and Harvey were stuffing people today. I felt like Binney was in one less block rotation too but could be wrong. The hitting was not the greatest but good enough.

If he's not 100%, not worth adding him to the game plan. He won't be effective without maximum power against OSU.

At this rate, we won't make the tournament. We have to figure it out in the next 2-3 weeks or this season will be lost. The SEC is loaded with top teams. We not going to make the tournament with 10+ losses.

Elliot plays Ella for 1/3 of the rotations tonight against SMU and she won most of her point opportunities while Binney was the opposite. Watching teams constantly attack her is getting tiresome. They're going to point to the 2 blocks she had as progress but it really isn't. She doesn't get the height to get tips and stuffs that Ella does. Not to mention the leadership and fire Ella brings to her teammates. We see it on the TV screen. How doesn't he see this? It's taking way too long to see the obvious for Elliot. How many more losses is it going to take?

Tempo is an issue too (lots of issue right now), but did you watch last game again Louisville? They attacked Binney every single time she was blocking on the left. To the point that the commentators were talking about how big an issue having the "undersized" Binney blocking. The concerning part right now is Elliot and the staff are either stubborn or slow to understand the makeup of this team. They better figure this out or this season will be a waste.

Going back to the 5-1 is good but I don't know why you don't put Ella at setter and move Binney to backline defender. Ella is such a great blocker and server and Binney is a very good defender and a terrible blocker. It's basically a free point every rotation when she has to block the left side.

Teagan Kavan has passed Cat in my mind as our Longhorn GOAT college career wise. Nobody better in the post season than Kavan in our history. If she 3 peats, she'll be one of the greatest in all softball.

Stewart and the bats were hot today. It bodes well that our players got 1 1/3 inning look at Canady today. Gotta hope both of their pitchers don't have their stuff again tomorrow. Kavan could end up being our GOAT if we win this year and 3 peats next year. It's going to be interesting to see if we start her tomorrow or save her for a decider like last year.

For Vic, who plays usually stems from how they are playing defensively versus offensively. He pulled Crump and Carlton early in games because of how poor they played defense at times. He did this with Lee as well against UCLA when she just didn't have the same intensity she normally has. Booker shooting 3-23 and Lee 2-17 are anomalies. Shooters will shoot and you have to run with who got you there. Nobody would ever predict Booker would shoot 13%. She wasn't tired, she was just missing easy shots. That being said, I would have liked Vic taking her out of the game for 1-2 minutes early just to talk to her and get her in a different mindset when she missed 7-8 shots in a row after the first bucket. But Vic gets us to the finals if Booker shoots 6-23 instead which is terrible for her as well. Just very unfortunate we low rolled in the final four and now in the off season.

Rori is making that roster. She played super well in the preseason game and nobody defends the PG like she does.

The Gaston interview released a few days ago doesn't help either. They didn't make it sound like it was very fun to play for Vic and staff.

I bet 🤭 ... I mean I predict he doesn't single game this year.

The Gaston interview that's been circulating a bit isn't a good look for Vic either. There's a lot of things he needs to clean up right now in terms of the program's image. Not addressing a speculated incident (if real) while the players that left or parents of the players are taking shots at you has got to be a hard pill to swallow.

Nussmeier goes from potential #1 draft pick pre-season to almost Mr. Irrelevant after the season. Just wild how fortunes change so quickly in football.

He'll do well on the Miami Longhorns.

The dolphins have nothing at safety so good chance he makes the team and can start establishing himself. The storybook journey continues in the NFL for him.

The Audi Crooks deal is not doing us any favors jacking up the market. But Vic has to pick up some more bigs and some experienced guards. Only a certain type of player can play at Texas under Vic. They have to value defensive effort first and foremost. Vic will never change that. And you got to be able to have the fortitude of being coached hard. Getting Vann was a good get but he needs to get more and I'm not sure why we haven't had any more additions yet. This was the team to win it all this year with the mix of talent and experience. In a lot of ways not winning it all this year, halts the momentum we had with the program. We won't get another run like that for years especially with a generational talent like Booker leaving next year. UCLA was the same way this year but they got to the finish line. Now they have to rebuild as well. Vic won't be able to win it all unless he gets more elite talent. He does fine maxing out what he's got but it's not a coincidence that South Carolina and UConn are legit contenders to win the whole thing every year because their rosters are loaded with 5* talent. SC had nobody leave in the portal this year so they have continuity as well. Can Vic get us to the Final Four again? Probably but Final Four vs winning it all is something not even Vic has ever solved. This ship can change directions fast when you don't have enough veteran leadership keeping the culture in tact. That's what I'm most worried about going into next season.
