  1. I can only go off what Gerry says, and after reading his last two post game threads the money isn’t going to be there. So we are headed into a collision. Miller clearly loves it here and that guy hates losing more than he likes winning. If he wants more money and they tell him no, what does he do? I don’t think he came here to just get to the sweet sixteen every now and then.
  2. Said fans have no power. What are they going to do? Not show up to games because they don’t like him not winning fast enough? Shaka was here for six years. And three of those were with Strong as the football coach. People wanted him fired after year two. He still coached four more years. Rodney Terry got two years. How is an unhappy small fan base going to force him out after year two? We have no BMDs that I know of that could force that move. He’s already exceeded expectations. Even if he falls off the cliff next year I think they give him more time. We have had two and a half years for RT and one and a half for Beard. I don’t know CDC, and I have zero inside information, but just based off the revolving door from the last two coaches I don’t see him doing anything. I am more worried about Miller leaving than Miller being fired. Will there be a lot of this player sucks next year if it’s bad? Sure, it was there for RT. Man people say players suck in the football threads, and they are winning. I get comparing him to Golden but why stop at getting to the sweet sixteen? Why not use him as a model to win a national championship? He doesn’t have a high NIL either, so why is the bar not set higher for Texas?
  3. What fan base is there for Texas men’s basketball? It’s a small group. Why would Texas cave to pressure from very few and sign high school talent? Initially that small group would probably be upset. So what, it’s not like there will be a massive protest that has any impact. If that small group of fans waits until the season starts then they will see Coach Miller made the right decision. I agree that at the end of year two, with the scenario you mentioned, Texas fans will be very upset. So what? Some are already upset. As long as it doesn’t affect the money coming from men’s basketball CDC will give him the third year. Extremely small fan base with no power at all.
  4. I saw a stat the other day about how efficient Texas is at scoring despite the fact they don’t shoot that well from three point land. They are in a group of four, three of those could win the national championship. Coach Miller is a master at getting players in the right place to score. Swain is not the best perimeter shooter. Most of the time he looks hesitant to even shoot it. Despite that, they still can’t stop him. Every time I hear Coach Miller talk I like him more and more. Texas has their coach. They didn’t have to spend millions of dollars to get him. Texas has the coach. And I think that is where the few of us that love watching men’s basketball get frustrated. Give the man a chance to build a team. Stop making him go all over the world to find players that will take less money and help Texas win. There are only so many brother or sons of former Longhorn football or basketball players talented enough to be on the team. Man I am just asking for them to spend more on ONE GUY! I heard the starting price for a point guard in this year’s portal is three million. I don’t care if a kid gets that amount. I care that some school gives it to him. These kids want NBA rookie first round money when they are second round draft picks. Every body that can’t play in the NBA is trying to come back and get paid. Texas should not have Kentucky, North Carolina or Duke NIL. If you give this man just enough, I truly believe he can get this program rolling. I just hate that they don’t do that.
  5. Second game he has done this. Pointless to say anything. Just going to watch the team.
  6. A&M will be ready and waiting. Texas can certainly win that game, but I am not counting on it.
  7. And I agree. It pisses me off that we have a top ten coach that is expected to get great players at flea market prices.
  8. Whatever man. I had the tournament as the bar to start the season. This is the second game you have done this. Not much to respond to. Pope is a massive liability on defense. Coach Miller is talking about him specifically when he talks about defense. I guess pointing that out is wrong. I have said Mark is hot and cold and he is. Not sure how that means he sucks. Are we not allowed to be critical of players?
  9. It’s what I have been saying. It’s three games to get one win. Have no idea who is saying those guys suck. Definitely not me.
  10. Have to say there is no excuse for being this bad defensively. You can be bad but not that bad.
  11. Florida really did a much better job on Mark in the second half.
  12. I agree. That’s why I said Texas would potentially lose five in a row if they dropped the LSU game.
  13. Man that’s not fair. I actually think this game proved just how good Coach Miller is. It’s just not a very good team. You can take Pope out but you have to put Wilcher in. Texas has no power forward. Put Heide in or Codie and you’re lucky if you get five points out of them. Heide is in over his head. Coach Miller is doing an excellent job of covering some big holes.
  14. Good call on the game Jeff. Three games to get one win.
  15. Texas seriously has no power forward. They have to play Heide or Codie. You can pull Pope for lazy passes and poor defense, but you have to put Wilcher in. You lose offense by taking Pope out.
