  1. And was an extremely solid run defender for a team expected to take a huge step back this year
  2. I don’t think David Gbenda will get unseated this season. He has a crazy motor, he will get better in coverage, and in fact did improve toward the end of last season.
  3. JJ Hanne, for a kid who has only been playing organized football for two years, has trouble getting out of his stance quick even thought he’s clearly got some lateral quickness, but man does the kid have violent hands for basically no experience.
  4. Whether it be Simmons or Moore
  5. I disagree, I think he might have the most pure talent in the room and no matter who comes up behind he’ll be the strong edge and whoever the extremely twitchy guy is will be the weak edge
  6. I think people are underestimating the jump Ethan Burke will take this year again. He was elite at using his length and lean last season, but I think he was still getting used to the weight he had put on the off season prior. I think he will come into the season with more twitch to go along with his length and size just for having lived with it for another year.
  7. I think the question isn’t if he has the speed, but if it comes back after rehabbing the toe injury
  8. I’ve been a victim of this too. Jahdae is about to come into the season fully recovered from an injury, and even with All SEC preseason second team honors I don’t think either the SEC or fans remember how good he was 2 years ago and healthy. He will make every facet of the defense better.
  9. I think money offered to KJ Lacey should been used somewhere else. Assuming there is a soft salary cap in the program for NIL how do you spend 600k+ on a kid for whom there is a pretty good chance sits for 3 years and then finds himself behind Trey Owens and transfers.
  10. Black pilling over one position group in one recruiting class when the coach just changed is crazy.
  11. Well hopefully Alex January, Sydir Mitchell and a transfer solve that
  12. This morning y’all spoke on the lack of depth at a run stopping DT and lack of true MLB talent in the state is often brought up. This is clearly because of the extreme spread offense that many HS’s run in the state, but I think this might be a problem that will slowly start to clear itself up after watching the success of PNG and SOC’s offenses which were much more power based than we’ve become accustomed to. I believe teams trying to stop this resurgence will produce more traditional DT’s and MLB’s soon.
  13. Hey guys thought I’d post this as a series of pictures for anyone who, like me goes through life forgetting they can share a webpage to their home screen and this activate the OTF website like an app… sorry about Gandalf fighting the Balrog on my Home Screen n
  14. Glad to hear the guys talking about Aaron Bryant this morning. I don’t think anyone on the defensive side in the spring game looked as consistently dominant as Aaron Bryant. Go back and watch 3 yards of penetration every play and got down the line really well.
  15. I haven’t heard much about Tasili Akana in a while, is he dealing with an injury, caught between edge and mlb, or just buried on the depth chart. He looked like the kinda guy who would at least be running out with the 2nd string by now.
  16. Me too, he deserved for that to be the play of the season
  17. I just got really excited about Niblack because the deep over routes that Sark draws up so well, and Quinn throws as well as any quarterback. Sanders would make sure handed catches and get extra yards after the catch, but Niblack might be the kinda guy who takes 4 of those to the house this year.
  18. Also after watching a bit of film his run blocking pad level and his skip pull techniques are elite
  19. What’s the best way to get a question answered by OTF staff, and on to the question I’ve been trying to ask. Why is Jackson Christian projecting as a guard at the next level? I saw him at the mid-county madness game this year and he looked all of 6’5” with long arms. Is it a quickness concern along with the kind of offense PNG played not displaying much pass blocking.
  20. This morning on coffee and football the guys were talking about some of their weirdest THSFB stories. I’ll share mine and encourage you to share your’s. I played linebacker for Nederland HS and my senior year, 2017, during the Mid-County Madness game, Roschon’s Junior year PNG was going in from the five so I’m lined up in my stance ready to play and seconds before the snap on the opposite end of the field a flare was shot from the Port Neches student section across the field and landed 5 yards from the Nederland student section where it would’ve burned someone really badly. Cheering for Roschon is much more fun than trying to tackle him.
