About Me
I was born to be a Life Time Longhorn Fan, in Houston Texas August 1951, my Mother, after divorce, Moved my Sister, Brother , and me to Austin, to be close her mother. We wound up on 39th street, across the street from Baker Junior High School. Baker at the time was 1st-9th grade, and that's where I went to school till High School. Looking back, it was the Knot Hole Tickets, that allowed students (grades 1-12 in Austin Independent School District), to attend longhorn football games for 50 cents, that changed my life forever. as that began my growth into a Lifetime Longhorn Fan! I went to Stephen F. Austin High School, played football for longtime football coach Jim Tolbert, was 1st team All-District Center ( 6'-1' 225 lbs. ) as a senior, season of 1968. After a stint in the Navy, I became a carpenter, driving nails for a living.
1975 I was in the right place at the right time, and found myself working for Jerry Potter at Lone Star Sound, on tour with Willie Nelson, mixing the front of house sound. Eventually I wound up driving the semi. Made more money and worked less hours, and didn't have to ride on the tour bus and deal with 10 folks with stinky feet. Through the years I drove for Pure Prarie League, Jimmy Buffet, Styx, Charlie Daniels 2 tours and spent a day off at his ranch, in Mt. Juliet Tennessee, rounding up his cattle, and branding the new calves. I did two stadium tours with Pink Floyd, Stadium Tour with Genesis, The Voo Doo lounge stadium tour with the Stones and The Guns N Roses/Metallica stadium tour.in 1992,. These stadium tours were quite a production . Each tour took 3 stages, and 15 48'ft. trailers to move. I was lead driver with one of the stages, my job beside driving one of the semi's was to make sure all of the trailers were loaded the same way after each show. Having 3 stages allowed the bands to play 3 cities a week. I retired from the bid'ness in1995. I wrote a book about my adventures "The Happy Texan", Adventures of a Rock n Roll Truck Driver, That can be found on Kindle. My wife and I live on the Pedernales River, north of Dripping Springs, Tx.
