  6. Also worth noting that today marks the first day of high school baseball in the state of Texas! Proud dad moment: My son will be taking to the diamond for the first time of his high school career today. He's a freshman who plays all other sports, but this is what he lives for. He's been up since 5 AM and went to workout before practice later today (rain needs to get out of town). To say he's excited would be an understatement,

  10. This will probably be the last of the junior day information you see from me, but wanted to share what I rounded up late last night/early today. - This morning marks the start of winter workouts for the Longhorns. After about three weeks off, they're back in the saddle in preparation for the 2024 season. - CJ Vogel spoke this weekend of how impressionable new Texas linebackers coach Johnny Nansen was this weekend and that he hit it of well with many recruits. I also heard rave reviews on both wide recievers coach Chris Jackson and running backs coach Tashard Choice. The two of them, along with Nansen, were mentioned as coaches who stood out the most and made parents feel really good about where the program is heading. - Texas may have landed a 2026 RB in Aledo's Raycine Guillory over the weekend, but another name to keep an eye on at the position is Forney's Javian Osborne. Running backs coach Tashard Choice offered him nearly a year ago and the two spent an ample amount of time together this weekend in Austin for the junior day as well. Osborne, who already holds offers in the double digits, was already high on Texas and this past weekend has only helped their chances more. - It's still very early in the process for 2026 CB Braylon Edwards (Wilmer-Hutchins), but he was on campus Saturday for the first time. He checked in at 5-foot-10, 185-pounds and caught the attention of cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and safeties coach Blake Gideon and they told Edwards they could envision him playing either position. Edwards will visit Texas A&M this upcoming weekend, followed by LSU on February 3rd. One other thing worth noting in this recruitment is that Edwards is the cousin of Jordan Johnson-Reubell. - Dallas Kimball's Kevin Jacobs is a 2025 defensive back, but he spent a lot of time with Tashard Choice as well. One thing Jacobs noted is that he felt Texas did a phenomenal job of explaining their plan for the future, both on the field with their play and off the field with their recruiting. Jacobs said that, without a doubt, he will be returning.

  12. Gus, that’s a great point I haven’t thought of. With the new playoff expansion, plus conference championships, there really is a chance teams could face off three times in a season. That is pretty interesting to think about with any set of schools, not just UGA and Texas.
  13. Here is the entire article (it’s a free one) for those wanting to see all SEC projections: https://theathletic.com/5206838/2024/01/17/2024-sec-football-season-prediction-change-cfp/?amp=1
  14. Texas A&M. The same Aggies team they predict to go 6-6 on the season. I asked this on Twitter, but would you take it? You're obviously in the playoffs if that's indeed the case. For me personally, if Texas goes 11-1 I think that loss comes against Georgia. They also predict OU to go 7-5.
  15. He’s definitely a big ol boy, but seems like a great kid off the field as well. He told me the last couple of weeks have been insane for him with all the offers rolling in. Sounds like he wants a Texas one pretty badly, if you ask me.
  16. I was thinking this as well. I bet he would have fared very, very well. Not sure who would be next up in basketball.
  17. Full story available at: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/nfl-draft-2024-top-20-college-football-players-who-spurned-the-pros-to-return-for-another-season/ Agree or disagree?
  18. The other day I was listening to Pat McAfee on ESPN and he had Colt McCoy on. McAfee told McCoy that if NIL was a thing when he was in school, Colt would have been raking in millions. Then, today, I read this article from CBS Sports: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/tim-tebow-randy-moss-among-ex-college-football-stars-who-would-have-benefited-from-nil-transfer-portal/ Which brings me to the question.... Who, in your opinion, would have been a big time NIL guy at Texas if it was always available in the past? Obvious answers are McCoy and Vince Young... but who else you got? Doesn't have to be just football.
  19. Someone "flagged" my tweet of Daniel and Zaden together (for some dumb reason), so I can't embed it on the site. But if y'all want to check the two of them out, here you go:
  20. My fingers and toes haven't been that cold in a very, very long time. That was the worst part of it. Wasn't even the rest of my body. That was a different kind of windchill than what I'm used to in Comanche... haha!
  21. Brown was originally going to come, but they had him hold off. My guess, like you said, is due to the DT coach (or lack thereof).
