  1. Heck of a performance by Florida today and a record snapped for OU.
  2. The Alamo Bowl’s attempt to be allowed to choose SEC-bound Texas or Oklahoma for its bowl games in 2024 and 2025 has been denied, sources told Action Network. The Alamo Bowl, which has two years left on its contract pitting the Pac-12 and Big 12, wanted to be able to select Texas or OU as a replacement for a Pac-12 school for the next two seasons. In February, Action Network reported the 10 schools leaving the Pac-12 — the “Pac-12 legacy members” — would still play in Pac-12 affiliated bowls and not in bowl tie-ins with their new conferences for the next two seasons. However, the Alamo Bowl wanted to replace its Pac-12 team with either Texas or Oklahoma, setting up a matchup between UT or OU against a Big 12 team in the San Antonio Bowl, sources said. That plan was tentatively in place a few weeks ago, according to a document sent to several bowl officials that was obtained by Action Network. This would have allowed the Alamo to select Texas or OU if either wasn’t selected for the College Football Playoff. Ultimately, though, that was squashed last week after pushback from Texas and Oklahoma, current SEC bowls and the SEC, sources said. “Allowing the Alamo to take OU or Texas instead of a Pac-12 legacy team would have caused a lot of issues with the SEC bowls,” a source said. “And we don’t like issues.” The Alamo Bowl has selected either Texas or Oklahoma in each of the past five Alamo Bowls, and neither school had interest in playing in a non-SEC affiliated bowl if it didn't make the playoff, sources said. With the contracts between the 10 conferences and the bowls not ending until after the 2025 season, a way was needed to fill all the Pac-12 bowls with only Oregon State and Washington State remaining in the league. The solution, according to a document sent to the bowls last month, allows the Pac-12 bowls — Alamo, Holiday, Las Vegas, Sun, Los Angeles, Independence and an ESPN event bowl — to select either “Pac-12 legacy members” or Oregon State and Washington State. This keeps Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington (Big Ten), Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah (Big 12) and Cal and Stanford (ACC) from participating in their respective new conference bowl games until 2026. After the 12-team College Football Playoff field is selected, the Alamo Bowl will get the first selection from the “Pac-12 legacy members” or Pac-12, followed by the Holiday, Las Vegas, Sun, Los Angeles and Independence bowls. The Alamo Bowl has featured teams from the Pac-12 and Big 12 every season since 2010. https://www.actionnetwork.com/ncaaf/alamo-bowl-denied-texas-oklahoma-2024-2025?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=BrettMcMurphy
  3. My man @Gerry Hamilton will come drop the knowledge on Vinson here shortly! Edit: Of course he posts right before I posted this!
  4. On Monday afternoon Rodney Terry and Co. received a commitment from 2024 prospect Jamie Vinson. The 6-foot-9, 210-pound power forward was a Vanderbilt signee, before asking out of his LOI due to Jerry Stackhouse being fired. Originally from Austin, Vinson attended Oak Hill Academy in Virginia during his final years of high school. Vinson is ranked a three-star prospect by all the major recruiting services. He also held offers from Kentucky, Texas Tech, South Carolina, Cal, Rutgers, Ole Miss and more.
  5. Can’t thank you guys enough for the support. Yall are awesome.
  6. Coffee and Football starts at 8 AM and it’s the best way to get your Texas Longhorns fix each and every weekday morning. Join me, along with Bobby Burton and Gerry Hamilton, as we take your questions and talk the latest topics when it comes to the Horns.
  7. Still talking to some folks tonight before posting anything about the future and this team.
  8. I posted this (screenshot below) on page 11, as it’s from a thread earlier in the season I made about coaches I’d like to see Texas go after from a realistic standpoint, although Vitello going to get tougher and tougher to get by the day. I’m calling everyone on Tier 1 tomorrow and gauging interest and then going from there. Honestly I’d probably take Tony Vitello over all of them, but if I had to choose a main guy and a backup plan: 1. Vitello - He took Tenn from a program with little success to a powerhouse who’s constantly in contention. Not only that, but fans love him. Look no further than him constantly talking to fans, celebrating with them in the bleachers, hosting pizza parties, etc. NIL would be helped by this hire in a big way. A tremendous way actually. Players also feed off that energy. His players love him. I would do everything I could to make him say no. 2. Erik Bakich. High baseball IQ guy and it translates on the field. His teams are sound and play a brand of baseball that translates well at this level. He’s also one hell of a developer. He’s done well at places that aren’t baseball powerhouses. Another players coach as well. If one thing gives me pause, it might be his postseason record. But I think he can overcome that with elite talent at a place like Texas. Vaughn and Canham would be next in line.
  9. We will continue this thread for any good regional moments between now and tomorrow; but since Texas is out, I’m going to unpin it. I’ll start a new post here in a bit regarding the Horns and the future. Checking with a couple of different sources on some things.
  10. I’ll post some thoughts and such here in a bit. Let me finish putting this Power Wheels together for my youngest!
  11. First off, welcome to the board and thanks for joining us. We appreciate your support and hope you enjoy it! Look at the top post on page 11 (this page). I posted it there. Edit: Nevermind I see you found it! If someone is going to make a Vitello run, it needs to be now.
  12. I don’t think Ace is even close to 75% healthy. He’s giving it all he has, but I’m really surprised they started him today.
  13. Phenomenal 4-6-3. Unfortunately it wasn’t phenomenal for the Horns.
  14. Didn’t take as long as I thought. The list: The thread:
  15. I made you guys a list while back on coaches Texas should go after. Realistic list. Not “we’re getting Jay Johnson!!!!!” Type list. Let me see if I can find it.
  16. Some news this morning: Texas will start Ace Whitehead today against Louisiana.
