  1. Good morning! Rise and shine with the OTF crew on Coffee and Football beginning at 8 AM. Bobby Burton, Gerry Hamilton and I will be talking all things Texas and will be taking your questions.
  2. Haha. I’m about to get them back in return. It’s ok! I can take what I dish out!
  3. The place to be for any and all Texas fans is Coffee and Football at 8 AM. Join Bobby Burton, Gerry Hamilton and I to discuss the latest in Longhorns news and notes.
  4. Two (LSU, Vandy) of the top 3-4 ain’t coming for sure. But going after a well known, established name would be ideal for sure.
  5. #4 Texas hosts #1 OU today, beginning at 1:00 PM. Each team has won one game apiece in the series, so today’s game is huge for obvious reasons. Last night the Longhorns snapped the Sooners 40 game conference win streak, as they won 2-1. Game will be televised on LHN and is sold out.
  6. I’ve had a lot of people ask me who I’d go after if I had the opportunity. Thinking on that today. I’ll post a list this afternoon.
  7. Can someone in this thread help me out…. I haven’t got to see the Rangers or Astros scores from this weekend. Someone post please. Just curious how both teams did Friday and Saturday.
  8. Also, Texas HAS TO IMPROVE their RISP in clutch situations. Been a problem throughout the season.
  9. I am available to coach if they need me, fyi. I’ll give up the C&F gig. I have 3x district champ, 2 TTAB state appearances under my belt as a coach. Pretty sure that means I’m ready for the big time.
  10. It’s Friday! Start your weekend with a bang! Join us for Coffee and Football as we discuss the Longhorns and talk Texas football, baseball, recruiting and more.
  11. The only way I would root for the Astros is if my kid played for them. And I wouldn’t like it. At all. I’d respect it. But I wouldn’t like it.
  12. I didn’t see this in time. I’ll try to remember to ask this in the morning.
  13. 100% agree. Always good to hear from someone in the know, but that has an outsiders perspective.
  14. Good morning! Rise and shine with Coffee and Football at 8 AM, as we talk the Longhorns and take your questions. Come join us!
  15. You’re welcome! I enjoy this type of stuff because it’s not your typical “player x looks amazing.” It gives you a completely different perspective and a peek behind the curtain.
  16. Correct. They have some kids (one is a P4 signee), but not Texas level kids at the moment.
  17. Haha. Obviously he didn’t mean having them on his room, but he was talking more about the depth and not much of a drop off from QB to QB.
  18. For sure. That's the biggest takeaway from this list, imo.
  19. Haha I was hoping you would post it while we were live! I think you put it up right after we were finished. But I got to it today! Thank you for the updates!
  20. I spoke with a pair of coaches who attended a practice recently. Although they're familiar with the team, neither are huge Texas fans. Obviously that means it was tough for them to get into player specific answers, but both had a lot to say from a coaching standpoint. Coach 1 is a head coach and coach 2 is a coordinator. Both coach at the same school and I spoke with both at the same time. On How Practices Are In General Coach 1: "Incredibly well ran. There is a lot going on at all times, but the organization of it all was very impressive. Every coach was on top of what they were doing. As a head coach, you're looking to see what all your coaches are doing at all times, so I wanted to see how it was done there. Every staff member I saw there was on top of things. There were a lot of things I took mental notes on that I want to begin to incorporate into what we do at the high school level." Coach 2: "Smooth. That's how I would describe it. I've coached at many different levels of high school ball, so I've seen things go good and bad, but it was smooth all over. They're letting their guys coach and do their job. And those guys do a great job at it." What Stood Out From A Coaching Perspective C1: "The buy in. I'm constantly preaching to our kids about buying into our program. I want it ingrained into their heads from day one. We are a team, we act as a team, we play as a team, we do everything together and we always have each others back. From what I saw, everyone was bought in. They held each other accountable. That's exactly the type of culture I'm always trying to build. You could tell they have a common goal and they were prepping for that goal. If someone messed up, they all learned from it through talking or punishment. No complaining. No 'but, coach...'. No excuses. They work together. That's the sign of a good team who's bought in. I love it." C2: "Communication between position coaches, coordinators and Sark was great. I think that's something that is often overlooked. You can have a great staff, but if you aren't communicating with one another and working together, it can blow up in your face. Those guys do a great job of talking with each other, sharing thoughts and ideas, along with communicating that to their players." What Position Group Impressed The Most C1: "If I had a QB room like that, we would win state." C2: "The defensive ends were so athletic. I've had some great defenses, but those guys are on another level." What Other Position(s) Caught Their Eye C1: "I'm an offense guy first, so the athleticism of the wide receivers were off the charts. Those guys are playmakers. It has to be a lot of fun scheming up plays for them. They have guys who can do it all and line up all over the field. I'm definitely jealous." C2: "The safeties. The way those guys are built is just different. They're fast, they have great instincts. Great overall awareness. I was impressed."
  21. Join us for Coffee and Football at 8:00 AM (ok, 8:10, but still), as we discuss the latest Longhorns news and notes. Get your questions in, tell us where you’re checking in from and join in on the fun.
  22. Haha. Construction at stadium is why. They'll have three scrimmages, but no spring game.
  23. If you aren’t watching by now, I don’t know what to say. Coffee and Football. 8 AM. Texas talk. Join us. If you don’t, @Gerry Hamilton will be sad. And we don’t want that, do we?
