  1. The pk thing is because he had a better one lined up. Just like we let Parker go to get cam. Who do you suggest we replace flood with? I’m pretty indifferent on him but that’s because I don’t see this IOL portal class as anything worth getting mad over. The ones worth it, imo, we went after (brunner/Michigan guys/siani) but other than that it’s a bunch of meh. Which i think isn’t a sure fire better option than guys like Cojoe or Chatman in the program for a few years. the thing about the portal class for me is depth, which there is still time for. I don’t pretend to know some of these guys asks for PT or $$ so hard to say who they should get, but the rest of the class has earned trust with me. If we get to 2026 with another poor oline then it’ll be time to ask the hard questions. Just too early for me personally
  2. He would be an awesome Clark replacement. Wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted a bigger role with fletcher back another year
  3. Whatever happened to Antonio Tripp? He was a Miami guy before spending a year at FIU. Could be another Sikorsky guy to compete
  4. Lol I said "this is where Carson beck throws a pick" right before that snap.. so predictable
  5. what guaranteed starting left guards were available in the portal besides Brunner (who we went after hard)?
  6. are any of those 1000+ snap guys any good? which ones would you have wanted us to sign (actual question since I dont know about all the players) the ones ive looked at weren't all that impressive (though hasnt been all of them so would love your thoughts). The couple of plug and play starters we went after hard (brunner/guaranara) but couldnt land. idk what their plan is, but my plan would be to then sign one or more of those guys still left and let em battle it out. I feel just as comfortable with that as I do with them signing someone super meh like Tshabola (who may have wanted a starter guarantee) and paying his price tag, since I know a couple of OSU fans who were so happy he left. Though with our awful guard play at the beginning of last year, that may be an upgrade but I'd rather have waited it out at the time he made his decision. I think talking about options and line play is way more productive than just saying we dont have a guard
  7. who are the multiple quality guards we passed on? Serious question. Looking at the list of all the guys who have signed already, its a bunch of question marks and meh. I get that our OG play was so bad last year that meh is attractive, but thats what id qualify sikorsky as (meh, with upside). I may be missing them or not know about everyone, but doesnt seem like there are "multiple quality guards" we passed on that would be surefire starters, though I am totally open to those names and will join you if thats the case. I honestly like the approach of filling with one meh (with upside) and seeing if theres a chance to get a true difference maker. If we filled it with like Tshabola (who was bad last year for OSU) early then we might put ourselves out of the running for a better player. Especially since those guys probably were asking for wayy more money than their play dictates, which obviously us as fans dont see, but the staff does. IDK i just see the level of investment the coaches have for this year (Cam/RB tandem/Siani are NOT cheap) and have to trust that they wouldnt trot out such a big hole as last year. All indications are that they recognize the issue from last year and need to correct it. But im with you that it sucks that its not fixed right now!
  8. it usually has a buyout associated with it. but we will see if those are enforceable. thats what the lawsuit with Damon Wilson is about
  9. why not add more talent then
  10. Womack also out there too... Ole Miss losing all of their edge
  11. Yeah and that he signed a $2.6MM deal.. has to be for two years right? No way he got Seaton money
  12. man despite the struggles I love the turnaround for this team. gets me excited for what miller can build here
  13. These kids apparently have been trashing the school to try to get out of their rev share buyout...
  14. Exactly the type of guys we need (in addition to starter level talent) love this
  15. Yeah I totally get the sentiment. I hate that college football is losing part of its fabric that makes it so special, which totally sucks. my only point is that I trust that Texas will put the same level of talent on the field as before. So ideally same number of Thorpes and awards. The guys just won’t as often be homegrown 3-4 year dudes, which totally sucks since it’s special to have guys like that who bleed burnt orange
  16. he's definitely not good enough for that. would be a decent body in the room for injuries but thats it imo
  17. you can talk to whoever. the dead period only prohibits in-person contact between school and player
  18. wouldnt've happened exactly how they did. but they still could have come through the program when they were ready to finally play. or they coulda been part of the lower end of a class who have the expectation to develop and are paid accordingly.
  19. yeah exactly. its a simple math problem/zero sum game. We are just in a wild time where the new reality is coming to fruition. with teams paying proven potential, all that will happen is that the development guys will get cheaper until they are proven and then move up the ranks... nothing will change other than where players develop. Not every year will have 25 players leave because the rosters are getting smaller. out of a 20 man class (10 insta contributers that are expensive/10 development cheaper guys), maybe 3-5 of the big money recruits you bring in that dont pan out will get their offers pulled and then 3-5 development guys who are in that no mans land of too expensive to not play but not cheap enough to be in a development role. Then those 6-10 will be replaced with proven guys in the portal. It just feels weird rn cause we are in a transition period
  20. lets hope they hit the g-spot hard
  21. the top T drafted this year is prob going to be a RT. I think the days are over where LT was paid and seen as that much higher. and if it is you can always switch in the pros. each guy has tape playing LT. Linemen move all the time these days
