    I’m of the mindset that to be elite you need to be a top 5 program. A team that has a real shot at winning the title year after year. Or in the case of an expanding playoff, a top 12 team that makes the final 4. 9-3 in the playoff is not an elite season if you get bounced round 1. Also elite teams & elite programs are not the same to me. An elite program would be more in line with a dynasty. I believe Texas has an elite team this upcoming season & had one last year. Another year after this season with a top 5 team & that will be on the verge of an elite program.

    That’s a bold take but I’m not mad at it. The only thing that could potentially hurt this take is interior lineman are not always prioritized the same way as tackles are

    Exactly. It really depends on how many qb needy teams there will be next year. The hope is Quinn balls out & plays so well, a la Joe Burrow’s final year, then he will be the number 1 pick regardless.

    If Dak doesn’t get a new deal then they could potentially look at qb next year. Gonna be interesting to see the approach because I don’t think they would be able to get a top 3 qb if they’re picking in the 20s.

    I think that’s much more realistic at this point. Given the season we’re expected to have, those projections would check out much more with a CFP run

    Agreed. I think barring injury Quinn will have a monster year.

    Bleacher Report has posted their early NFL mock draft for 2025. A couple of interesting projections in the 1st round. 1. Kelvin Banks lands at #4 overall. 2. Quinn Ewers is not in the 1st round. 3. Tacario Davis at #12. 4. Banks is the only currently rostered Longhorn in the 1st round. I disagree with a lot of these current projections, of course with the most egregious one with no Quinn in the 1st round. Having Shedeur Sanders, Carson Beck & Noah Fifita above him right now is bold. I’m also not sure if Tacario Davis is a top 15 pick next year, but it shows the level of talent he is.     She’s a great pickup on the wing. Extremely versatile & doesn’t need the ball a ton to impact games. I could see her being Brea Beal for next years team, with more offensive ability.

    Yea I get that but I just don’t see the 8 wins. I think they’re lacking at several positions & qb looks ehh. So that’s why I’m not putting them up at 8-10 wins. Really hope Arnold doesn’t make me look dumb for this tho 😅

    I can only see the staff going after Keelon if KJ is giving them mixed signals. I can’t really see Sark singling out a kid so early in the process at qb, only to recruit over them later on. Especially when KJ has, at least publicly, been recruiting for Texas. I would personally take Keelon over KJ in this class but I don’t know what precedent that would set for future recruits. Other schools would certainly use that as a tactic against us. Still trust Sark overall to get it right but it’s an interesting development.

    Their current roster is bottom tier in the SEC. If Arnold doesn’t go absolutely crazy, I don’t see how they get to 8 wins. I think Burks will be a stud for them but I don’t think they will be able to consistently score against physical teams & won’t be able to be physical enough on defense to counteract it. Let’s hope they have a 4 win season, including a curb stomping in red river.

    Definitely don’t think you can watch that & think Oklahoma will be able to do damage year 1 in the SEC. However, I will say Deion Burks is gonna be a problem

    Is this Texas just being in a different position recruiting wise now so they need to spread priority targets over 2 weekends instead of having the last OV weekend the main one? Or is it just how it’s fallen this year?

    I’m really curious to see how much Quinn improves his footwork & pocket presence this year. His natural arm talent was made for pro day settings & that’s what will get him drafted early. But it is encouraging to hear about his confidence & command out there. I don’t think it’s inconceivable for Quinn to have a Joe Burrow lite final year, given the overall talent on the offensive side of the ball.

    @Gerry Hamilton Do these oline visits identify who is on top of the Texas board? Because it seems like this year both June 14-16 & June 21-23 have priority targets.

    Yea comparing tapes at the same age Turntine is actually much quicker & lighter on his feet than Banks was. That’s crazy considering what Banks has developed into & makes me think Turntine almost has HOF level ceiling if maximized.

    The scary thing about his tape is he can get so much better technically with hand placement & contact initiation. Plus he will continue to get bigger & stronger. One heck of a prospect.
