I know the last couple years the last June official visit weekend was typically a good indicator of who the staff was prioritizing, barring a priority recruit not being able to visit that weekend. It seems like this year there are prospects the staff really loves in both the June 14-16 & June 21-23 weekends. Is that accurate? Or is it still a good bet the last weekend is indicative of the current staff priorities? @Gerry Hamilton @CJ Vogel

I can’t wait for DBU to return. Looks like that could be in the near future 🤘🏼 -
Details On Sark’s New Contract

Only 20 hours of private plane usage?? L contract 😂 -
This dude has All-Pro level arm talent. We’ll see if he maximizes but that is a cut above the vast majority of prospects.

Way-Too-Early 2024 SEC Rankings (Feb. 9)
goattalk100 replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Ole Miss will make noise due to their schedule. I actually think due to schedule we should be ahead of Georgia, but it may not matter given their talent level tbh. I think Auburn will be good this year. I think OU & LSU will struggle. I’m also fading Missouri & Tennessee more because I feel like Missouri caught lightning in a bottle last year & took people by surprise. I don’t think they’ll have that advantage this year. For Tennessee I don’t have a real great reason why, I just think Iamaleava may be a year away from really good qb play & we say last year that with only good qb play that they struggled in big games. I’m also fading Alabama too. I know DeBoer has won everywhere, but the SEC is a different level. I think he may go 8-4 & people will be talking because he will lose some big games that they’re not used to losing. I just think it’s too hard to follow a legend & once they lose a couple games then the feeling around the program will be way much different than with Saban. Just my thoughts. -
Texas 2025 Best Class Scenario: February 5
goattalk100 replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Have a random cool idea. What if I’m doing those rankings there could be something like community rankings? Where the community votes/ranks Texas targets or players in general. Think that could be fun & interesting to see who the community likes as recruits. Just a thought! -
Sunday: Squaring Expectations
goattalk100 replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
The backend might have to hold up in press man more often than not in some games because we might need to crowd the LOS in order to stop the run, especially in the SEC. I’m also curious to see if we throw in more blitzes to generate pressure & confuse opposing QB’s. Thought Michigan did a great job at disguising where pressure was coming from against Washington in the championship & we just saw it last weekend in what the Chiefs did to the Ravens. -
Gerry H and CJ Talk Recruiting
goattalk100 replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
@Gerry Hamilton @CJ Vogel who are each of your respective top 5 favorite recruits in the 25 class? & who would you name as the 5 must get recruits in that class? Obviously some of these answers will overlap but would love to hear both of your favorites in particular! -

I could see it a little bit. I think overall talent wise Texas is better on offense. They had Zeke & Michael Thomas but overall Texas will end up with the better offensive guys. I think the edge defensively is OSU. We’ll see how some of the guys pan out on our backend & this could be viewed differently. But unfortunately as good as Simmons is I’m not sure he’s Bosa good. & their secondary was pretty elite so time will tell. But not a bad comparison at all.

Tashard Choice Seeing Elite 2025 Mississippi RB
goattalk100 replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Might be my favorite back in the 25 class besides Berry. TONS of talent at the RB position in the next couple classes & it’s going to be really interesting to see who Choice & Sark prioritize. Or if it’s a case where they view 4-6 backs on the same elite tier then it could end up being first come first serve. That group, the linebackers & the receivers are the groups in 25 I’m looking at specifically when it comes to numbers & who ends up in the class. -
All of what you said is true, but you can’t look at 2 games & say boom that’s it. What about the ranked games they won just before that? What about not calling a timeout & trusting the players against Baylor? I think that turned out ok. You can’t look at one set of data to justify your opinion. I’m not saying he’s a perfect coach & there are necessary improvements needed. But in today’s day & age in college basketball it’s not add water get final four team.
-
Yes they actually do if you know basketball. His offensive coaching needs to improve but what does he have to work with? Even Houston (a top 4 team in the country) looks rough on offense at points & Kelvin Sampson has had years to build that program up & get his guys in there. Let’s be serious here & not use our feelings to cloud our judgment.

I will start off by saying this. I do not think Rodney Terry is a top 10 coach in college basketball. I just don’t think he’s in the elite tier of college coaches. However, he has proven to be a good coach and here’s why. He coached Texas to an Elite 8 after taking over during the season. Last years team had a ton of really good college players but no future NBA prospects, besides Dillon Mitchell whose star has faded over time (also Dylan Disu may be a pro but he needs to stay healthy and is borderline at best right now). The best teams year over year are led by players who end up in the league, even if they didn’t have the star ratings coming into college. In addition to that, the two Crown Jewels of his recruiting class ended up pursuing pro routes due to circumstances out of his control. Ron Holland is a projected top 5 pick and AJ Johnson would provide this team with much needed scoring punch from the 2/3 spot. This is at worst a top 15 team in the country with those two on the team this year. He also has Tre Johnson, another top 10 recruit committed for next year, so he can clearly recruit blue chip players. I’m not saying that RT can’t get better as a coach because he definitely can. I just think he’s actually a good coach and if given the time, he could have a top 12 program year in and year out.

Jaboree Antonie Off the Board
goattalk100 replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Corey Raymond returning to LSU really turned it in their favor recently. But as always with this staff, they’ll stay on him & hopefully will be in a position to flip if that materializes. I will say, LSU is putting together a monster 25 class early in the cycle. -
3 takeaways from this hire. 1. Sark has a much better pulse on the program & the coaching staff as a whole. He is going to make a hire based on certain traits he wants in his coaches, which has worked with almost every hire he’s made. 2. Being from the NFL, Baker is bringing at least somewhat of a development pedigree to the table. The improved stats across the DL for each individual Dolphins player is probably a pretty good indicator of this. 3. He’s not really a proven recruiter but the traits are there. I love Bo Davis, especially as a developer of talent. But the DL position group is the only one, outside of TE (certainly not an indictment on Banks considering how many prospects he’s involved with each cycle), that hasn’t landed a consensus 5 star prospect since Sark’s been the head coach. Baker has the traits to be a tremendous recruiter & you gotta believe in Sark’s vision when it comes to accumulating talent on the roster. I’ll continue to believe in Sark until I’m given a reason not to, Hook ‘em.

Harbaugh to NFL - The Repercussions
goattalk100 replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
My pure dream fantasy domino effect with Harbaugh to the NFL: 1. Mason Graham & Will Johnson enter the portal, visit Texas together immediately & walk out of the visit with a commitment from both. 2. Brian Kelly accepts the Michigan head coaching job. 3. Harold Perkins enters the portal, visits & commits to Texas. 4. Harlem Berry & Dakorien Moore decommit from LSU & end up in our 2025 class. One can hope 😂- 42 replies

Arizona DB Enters Transfer Portal
goattalk100 replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Wow not too familiar with him but that length combined with the ball skills at DB sounds like Tariq Woolen. Probably not 4.3 fast like Woolen though. -
Wow quite the 180 but that in state pressure is HEAVY. Stay close & nab from the portal in a year or 2!

I think if Texas knocks the official out of the park (which I have no reason to think we won’t) then I have to believe based on those last comments from him we would be the betting favorite. Alabama doesn’t have the stability anymore & Auburn can’t sell the same QB room or offensive scheme.

Update on Ryan Williams recruitment from the man himself! The Texas visit will go a long way in determining how this plays out. Also said he’s been texting with Arch!

Another Coach Name to Be Aware Of...

Love all the hires! I trust Sark to bring in the right pieces both on the field & off it.
