  1. Love Mack Brown, but one thing that improved after his departure was Texas' performance in Red River. They didn't always win that game, but they have always been competitive. I would go out on a limb and say if Brown was the HC in the 2023 game, that game would've gotten outta hand quickly. OU was throwing haymaker after haymaker in that game. I believe the largest loss for Texas over OU since 2014 was 12 points in the Big 12 Championship Game in 2018. I still to this day, do not know how Charlie Strong was able to get his teams ready for that game and the 2015 win over OU might be the most impressive win I've seen in my lifetime by Texas football given the circumstances. Now the roles are reversed. OU is trending down and Texas is trending up. When OU is down and Texas is up, they can't even compete outside of the first quarter running on pure adrenaline and emotions. I do want to see Sark beat OU when OU and Texas are good in the same season, like 2008 and 2018, but any win you get over OU you'll take.
  2. Imagine where IU’s MBB would be if Kelvin Sampson wasn’t forced out.
  3. Would be nice but not going to happen. Btw congrats to coach Schaefer’s group as they will be the #1 ranked team in tomorrow’s AP poll as Notre Dame lost to NC State today.
  4. I think that’s what it’s really about. If Beard’s teams regressed every season he was the HC and he did what he allegedly did off the court and got fired with cause, Texas fans that think Beard shouldn’t have been fired would’ve said good riddance. There are Baylor fans that still defend Arthur Briles, Ohio State fans that defend Urban Meyer, etc., all because they won a crapton of games. Beard had to go. The real mistake was not finding an adequate replacement.
  5. They do Horns Down at sporting events that don’t directly involve Texas. They don’t say Hotty Toddy at non Mississippi games.
  6. Once that mugshot was released to the public it was over. Opposing fans were gonna have that mugshot at every arena Texas visited for a long time. He would’ve never heard the end of it. But because he’s at lil ol Mississippi people don’t give a darn about him anymore.
  7. The Rodney Terry hire didn’t look like a typical CDC hire. It’s not the way CDC goes about hiring HCs for Texas athletics. CDC talked about how he goes about hiring coaches in his interview with Bobby yesterday. The Terry hire imo was not a CDC call. This hire was made by his boss at the time Hartzell and the higher ups. I understand why the hire was made and I was on board with it initially with the caveat that as long as Texas didn’t break the bank on Terry, they could move on from him in 2-3 years if it doesn’t work out. And here we are.
  8. Does Tennessee have a long storied history of success in MBB? Or Alabama? Or Clemson? Or Florida pre Billy Donovan era?
  9. There’s no reason that Texas can’t be well rounded in the big three sports. Look at Tennessee. In the last year they’ve had a CFP appearance in football, elite eight appearance in men’s basketball, and a natty in baseball. Texas has the money. The buy in has to be there. If Texas wants to be well rounded, they will pay up and get a quality MBB HC. Texas getting Schloss from A&M shows they’re willing to do it for baseball.
  10. If Texas somehow got Nate Oats, build CDC a statue in Austin ASAP.
  11. Everytime Texas MBB is losing chants NIL NIL NIL. Apparently that’s the missing ingredient before the cake can be baked. Then I watch the WBB team play and I’m like you sure about that?
  12. Those are great names, but how can one leave out the back to back national champion winning HC Dan Hurley? He’s not great this season, but that has to mean something. Jon Scheyer, like Ryan Day, was born on 3rd base. If his teams are still this good a couple of seasons from now, then I completely agree.
  13. Could do that. As long as it's not an interim turned full time HC again. But CDC won't do it until the end of the season.
  14. Which one came first - the chicken or the egg? Or in this case, which one comes first - the NIL or the HC?
  15. JT Toppin makes you a 22-5 team instead of 16-11 team at this point, right?
  16. Hmmm you sure about that? And against a top 3 team in the west too
  17. Let your voice be heard at the town hall meeting next week. Be the change you wish to see in the world.
  18. Look on the bright side, Porter Moser is even worse than this, so there's at least one win left for Texas this season.
  19. Is CDC gonna say this at the town hall meeting next week?
  20. Agree to disagree. If they're giving Vic Schaefer the NIL support, he can give the next MBB HC the NIL support too.
  21. Yeah I understand. While I’ve enjoyed seeing Texas win the Director’s Cup three of the last four athletic seasons, it can be misleading because it doesn’t place higher emphasis on football, men’s basketball, and baseball over other college athletic programs. But yes I hope whether CDC runs it back next season with Terry or a new college MBB HC that he understands you gotta pay to play with the big dogs in these major revenue sports.
