    When a college coach is fired, recent NCAA rule changes (late 2025) give players a 15-day transfer window to enter the portal, but it only starts five days after a new coach is announced, not immediately after the firing, creating a delay and potentially a longer wait for players to enter the portal compared to older 30-day windows. This change aims to reduce midseason chaos by tying the exception to the hiring of a permanent replacement, making it harder for players to leave mid-season and encouraging more strategic decisions, though some still might redshirt and wait.
