Smart man. It was painful, but I couldn't turn it off. -

At bats with runners in scoring position were extremely frustrating to watch. -

Great write up. It was painful to watch, but you're absolutely right. The game was over at 8-6 even though there were plenty of outs remaining. They need to shake it off. It's a tough road, but they are the best team in the regional. They can do it, but can they? We'll see at 2 PM. -

You should be thankful. That was one of the most aggravating things I’ve ever sat through. My wife did the same and couldn’t believe when I told her the score this morning. We’ve been making plans for Omaha if Texas makes it and she was counting it down with “only four wins away” before going to bed. Now she’s saying five wins away, including three in a row over the next two days. -

I went to bed when the score was 6-1 and woke up madder than Lincoln Riley’s family after he pulled that brisket out. Man. -
That was far from pretty last night

UTSA looked like the better team yesterday. Clutch hitting all game long and they handled our crowd like the veteran team they are. We had our opportunities over and over again. Some of our key players look lost and are just not getting it done at the plate. Let’s hope they hit the switch from here out.

There’s no other way to put it, except Texas choked last night. After being up 6-1, the Horns had a colossal meltdown and lost 9-7. The offense went cold, the defense committed mistake after mistake. Now, what should have been a win one and advance scenario, has turned into the No. 2 seeded Longhorns having to fight their way through three games to host a super regional. That’s tough. Really tough. First they’ll need to beat the Wildcats at 2:00 PM today. Some books have Texas as a 1.5 run favorite over Kansas State, while some have a little more faith in the team, and has them as a 2.5 run favorite. Regardless of all that, the Horns have to find a way to win. Ruger Riojas gets the start on the bump today. If you’ve looked at his last few starts, that’s worrisome. If you look at his whole body of work, then you know he’s more than capable of handling business. The big question is, which version will we see today? Of course, even if he’s on, Schloss and his staff need offensive output. They need what we saw in the first half of the UTSA game and definitely not the anemic offense we saw over the last few innings. Which version of this team will show up? Baseball is such a fickle game. Momentum and mindset play a role like no other. Last night, a little before 11:00 PM, I texted both Jeff and CJ that the game is over. Texas’ faces and body language said everything. Unfortunately, I was right. An hour later UTSA was celebrating. They can NOT get in that funk today. — A few other random thoughts: - Everyone keeps wanting Flores out of the lineup. I get it, he hasn’t been the best the last few weeks. The only problem is, the depth at SS is very shallow. If Texas felt confident in someone else, they would put them there. In a perfect world, I would suggest moving Mendoza over to short and letting A Rod start at 2nd. - Some freshman mistakes from Jonah last night reared their ugly head at the wrong time. Those last couple of at bats were awful. When he’s on though, he and Borba create a nice 1-2 punch at the end of the lineup. Growing pains. - You HAVE to get more from your 5-6-7 today and the rest of the way. Last night they combined for ZERO hits in 12 ABs. - Gasparino has got to be better. No excuses at this point. - As Jeff pointed out last night, 13 players were left on base. Multiple times Texas left two runners stranded. That’s huge. It’s been an issue off and on this season. - Multiple top 16 teams face elimination today. At least eight, by my count. As I said earlier, momentum is very important, and Texas has to get hot again…. QUICKLY.

Texas baseball had a tough evening. Softball had a great day . They beat Oklahoma in softball college World Series for first time.

We are exactly 90 days away from kickoff against Ohio State. There are multiple 90s to choose from today, so who is your favorite? Rod Wright: Malcom Brown: Charles Omenihu:

Since SEC play started, this has not been a good hitting team and it has been carried by good pitching and timely hitting. If you check the SEC team statistics UT is in the lower half or lower third of basically every offensive statistic and at or near the top in pitching statistics. Losing Belyeu was a big loss. In that same period, most of the players’ hitting performances have gone down, particularly Gasparino and Flores. Gaspo’s average has not gone down that much because it was already down by the time SEC play started and is similar to last yearr’s, but his strikeouts have gone back up again. Flores is probably hitting about .170 since SEC play started, perhaps less. Farmer seemed to have picked up some in the latter part of the year but was not a good replacement for Belyeu and Borba has never hit for average. Jonah has been a surprise, but even he can’t replace Max at this point. With Spencer going down, the once thin pitching staff has not recovered that well. This all goes back to some of Schloss’ original comments about needing to improve the team’s depth. This great run the team has been on is a testament to his overall coaching ability and a patchwork of just enough players and timely hitting to get this far. Hook’em. -

Just watched the postgame press conference. Haven't followed online Texas media closely until a couple years ago. Is Bohls intentionally a jerk or just stupid? He's gotta be at least 70, so it seems like it's the jerk deal. Schloss is shaking his head as Bohls asks Galvan a question. I just don't understand what he's doing. -
Let me sulk 😤

Don't claim to be overly knowledgeable about baseball, but it seems like we should hit better with the athletes we have. Defense didn't exactly come up big either. Was that nerves, pressure or just baseball? We've been pretty good defensively this season. Hitting not so much. Season isn't over and the future is bright. -
Calm down. They had a bad game and have slowed down at the wrong part of the season. They do NOT suck and more importantly, Texas Baseball on the whole does not suck. We are arguably the best program in the country over the history of college baseball. Sometimes overreactive fans suck, but I'm sure that doesn't apply in your case, you're just mad because we blew a lead and lost to a team we should beat and seem to be handling it poorly. The season isn't dead yet, lets see what happens next.

I do not like this decision , If we can’t pitch Bing or walker or someone else not named ruger/grubbs. We should pack it up. You play to win the regional not for placement. -

This. There's a lot of pride on this team. They've gotten it done pretty much all year, they just have to get the bats off their shoulders. They are getting the setups, just not converting. That said, 7 runs should be enough to beat any team. -
