81 Days Until Kickoff: Who Was The Best No. 81?
Blake Munroe replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Also, what’s your expected stat line for Nick Townsend this season? How many yards and TDs? -
We’re 81 days away from Texas football, and No. 81 has one of the strongest groups in the countdown so far. Pat Fitzgerald was a two-time first-team All-American at tight end, while Sam Acho finished with 23.5 sacks and earned both the Campbell and Wuerffel trophies. Shane Dronett recorded 22 career sacks and set the Texas single-game record with five against Texas Tech, and Maurice Doke was a first-team All-American and the 1959 Southwest Conference Lineman of the Year. The current No. 81 is tight end Nick Townsend. Who gets your vote as the best Longhorn to wear No. 81?

Brendan Sorsby to Enter NFL Supplemental Draft

What happened to all of the rhetoric by Tech about merely trying to help the poor young man? When they feel the heat they let him go? What a crock. It was never about helping Sorsby. It was all about helping Tech. -

late night dump for the "media." Exhausted all trial baloons and Sorby has to face the music anyways. And Tech has even more to face. They overplayed their hand. ft -

True, if they really wanted to help the guy with his addiction, they would have told him, "Look, you can't play now, but we'll honor your NIL deal and help you out." That's not what they did. They put him in the worst situation by using him to make the entire sports world angry. -

I lost a lot of respect for Cody Campbell and the rest of the Texas Tech admin responsible for this. I do believe Sorsby’s battles with gambling addiction are real and the young man needs help. What is despicable is how the Tech admin exploited his situation instead of just helping him. - Today

What does the word great mean? If you throw out terms like "great player" and "generational leader," then high criteria must be met. Three all NBA first teams and a couple of any level all defensive teams aren't exactly rarified air. I mean, there are scores of players who have done that in NBA history.

This went as bad as it possibly could have for Tech. They incurred the ire of the entire sports world and then lost Sorsby anyway. It was pure hubris on the part of Campbell to think he could pull this off. There's a high probability that Sorsby will be denied entry into the supplemental draft or simply that no NFL team wants to take him. Fiasco all the way around. -

Tech cant buy a win on - or off - the field. Just a massive fail on their part and I love it. They used to be an entertaining opponent who had Aggie's #, but after we poached Beard, they've been insufferable. -

Just doing the math based on others predictions, lol. It really did stick to the script very closely this year. -
Eltife > Campbell and it’s not even close. It takes a lot more than money to build the type of machine that Eltife, CDC, Hartzell, etc. have put together. The University of Texas at Austin was founded to be a “university of the first class” but the administration, students, and alumni have turned this place into something more. A “university of the first class” means you want to be really good, on par with top peer universities. That is no longer the goal for The University of Texas at Austin. The goal is to be the BEST at everything we do, whether it be rowing, softball, men’s swimming and driving, accounting, petroleum engineering, or information systems. We’re #1 in all those things. The University doesn’t suffer from the narrowness of mind that reduces the overarching goal to “Beating tu!” or declaring success when competitive in one or two areas. By trying to be the best at everything we do at the University, we frequently achieve that goal, and when we don’t we’re darn close. The Director’s Cup honors athletics, but it’s symbolic of the overarching success that the University of Texas at Austin has achieved as an academic institution. The heads of this university haven’t lost track of these goals and it’s incumbent upon us, the students, alumni, faculty, and fan base to remember that as we represent The University, its goals, and morals when we interact with the world at large. It’s simple, try to be the best, do it the right way, and don’t fall into the trap of creating moral shortcuts to give yourself a “leg up.” Tech will undoubtedly bounce back, but I’m much happier to be in a position of strength to start with AND not have to work through the pain that they have brought upon themselves. All of that starts at the top and that’s why I’m oh so grateful that we have the quality of leadership that we do. Hook ‘em

One Big 12 HC’s opinion on Brendan Sorsby
watty7796 replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Soresby jas more baggage than a 747 full of Kardashians and Hiltons. Any franchise looking at QB knows the 1st attribute of a QB is leadeship. This dude just demonstrated the absolute disregard for team mates and worse his own family. Mental health is a cop out for bad decisions. -
