When 61K is your stadium capacity it tells you a whole lot more about the conference than the school.

Steele used to be in the Blake Gideon territory, but that has since been moved to the Keynodo Hudson umbrella as I mentioned previously. -

Hugo holds 27 offers, Texas not among the bunch. has been committed to Arizona State since April 10. -
It’s interesting (to me) because Iowa State football has the top attendance of the historical Big 12 schools (post Texas, OU departures), and is second to only BYU when the new entrants are considered. I completely understand the TV market perspective on ISU being the #2 school in a small farm state with no major TV local market, but it’s a shame for the fans who turn out to support a competitive school that they’ll soon be relegated out of big time college football. If ISU were in the Big 10 West, they’d be competitive peers with ALL the other schools in that division (Iowa, Minn, Ill, Wiscy, Neb, NW, etc.)

RB Jonathan Hatton Jr. has always been a favorite of mine. He has a frame that mirrors a multi-year college back. Steele lists him at 6-1 and 215 pounds and he is every bit of that 215 pounds. The one time Oklahoma pledge is currently committed to Texas A&M. Texas will be familiar with the Steele product over the next few years. -

I am a sucker for lengthy cornerbacks and Steele has one with CB Michael "Trey" Johnson. 6-foot-3 and moved very well for a rising junior. Saw time on both sides of the ball as well. This is a D1 cat at some level. -

I tell ya, I never enjoy the drive from Austin to San Antonio down i35. I never do. But, the trip was made once again this morning so I could go check out Cibolo Steele HS during one of their spring practices. The objective of the trip was to go check on 2027 DB Eli Johnson and where the Longhorns sat in that recruitment. Johnson, a 6-foot-3-inch defensive back has been one of the quickest risers in the next class of defensive backs. He recently clocked a 4.49 40-yard dash at the Under Armour Elite Series camp in April. Texas nickels coach Keynodo Hudson stopped by Steele Friday morning to get a look at Johnson and the rest of the roster. Today, coaches from Oklahoma State and TCU were in attendance as well. The Longhorns have yet to extend an offer, but one coming in the near future would not be too surprising. The Steele staff raved about Johnson and of course the comparison to former Longhorn Caden Sterns was made. Right now, Texas is keeping tabs on the 2027 prospect. I went to a double header between Arkansas and Baylor on a Saturday in April 1986 when I was 13 with my best friend. His dad was an Arkansas alumni. I think they split the double header. We ate at Whataburger in Waco between the double header. We ate at Braum's in Corsicana on the way back. I don't remember my friend's dad saying a word during the hole thing.
