I understand, too, that with the wide receiver NFL talk, you have to view it through a different prism because of the transfer portal. What can't be debated, however, is that Sark has made Texas a preferred destination for NFL-caliber wide receiver talent looking to get that last bit of polish before going to the league.

I understand that anything we write or post related to Kyle Flood and the offensive line is a hot-button issue. Still, the Christian Jones and Hayden Conner examples show that Flood is capable. The problem is that the 2025 season was so bad, exacerbated by the staff's willingness to lean on in-house development and stay away from the portal, that it feels like whatever goodwill Flood built up with Longhorn fans was flushed in one season. It's harder to keep talent around long enough to develop it into something in the transfer portal/NIL era, but Trevor Goosby is a Flood recruit trending toward being a first-round pick and Brandon Baker is another Flood recruit who looks like a future NFL player. The criticism is fair. But I'm not ready to give up on Flood's ability to develop talent.
