Baseball: No. 1 Texas vs. Florida game thread (Saturday)
Jeff Howe replied to Jeff Howe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Harrison struck out the side after allowing a leadoff single in the first. Texas has one out in the home half after Mendoza struck out to lead things off. -

Not that I’ve been made aware of, no. -
I think Owens will be starting for a FBS school in 2026.

Jeff, Are you related to Paul Howe? Best I can he's one of the greatest warriors in the history of US. He led Delta and everyone else in the Battle of Mogadishu. First man to the Blackhawk that was down. By every report he "eliminated" more than anyone if the fiercest fighting in the history of US warfare. -

TV was definitely around in 1973. Kissinger literally out balled them in the highest stakes in the history of the word. I've read and listened to the transcript of Kissinger describing this to Mao Zedong a few weeks later in November 1973. Mao told Kissinger that he (Mao) was a monster for ordering millions to be "rectified," but Kissinger was more man than him because he risked the future of the world. Kissinger responded by saying that as a Jew born in Germany in 1923, he didn't do anything other than protect the standard of the American Constitution. Kissinger said that Mao could count on that in the infinite future.

It wasn't on national broadcast since TV wasnt around yet but as far as a historical comparison I'm going to throw David vs Goliath out there 😂

Mods-A Owens vs Lacey question
CJ Vogel replied to Robert Gilbert's topic in On Texas Football Forum
There were positive moments for both throughout the spring. The concern that has been mentioned to me and reiterated by Sarkisian throughout his availabilities is the consistency from the position when it isn't the first unit. Whether it be Owens or Lacey, routes on air, one on ones, 7v7 etc. sources throughout the spring indicated that the offense looked sharp when consistency was on the field. But that consistency became didn't necessarily grow as the spring did. Plus, having a quarterback on the roster who has played meaningful snaps before will never hurt + pushes competition. -
Ain't Kissinger in October 1973. I really don't think anything compares to Kissinger in the Soviet Union in October 1973. Yom Kippur War. Nixon battling Watergate. Guy faces down the Soviets and orders Defcon 2. He wins. I don't know anything in the history of world that compares.

Mods-A Owens vs Lacey question

The “lack of commitment” report may or may not be true. However, the same thing was said about Ewers in the Spring of 2022 and it was apparently correct. Ewers was initially not doing what he needed to do to master his position. He realized that and put in the work in the Spring of 2023 to become a team leader. The point is, things can change. There is no doubt though that Owens already has a battle on his hands with Lacey. -

I enjoy hunting, just as much as I enjoy eating everything I take. Learned a lot of life lessons in the woods, from patience, persistence, learning how to lose and show up the next day to get back after it and many more. It’s a special thing to me, and many others I grew up with. I can assure you I don’t waste anything, except for the predators and critters around that need to be controlled to keep the conservation up, so the little ones out there like your daughter can keep feeding them and bring them joy in their own way. I could wake up and sit on the porch and just listen to them gobble and talk for hours. Just wrapped up our turkey season here in MO today. Time to let them rest -

Definitely a new age of college football. A few years, you could make a lot of money betting SMU could flip a kid from Louisiana from LSU, but nowadays, nothing is surprising. -

Happy Birthday Gerry!!! I was excited when Bobby started up OTF, but it wasn’t complete until he announced that you would be coming over as well. Really appreciate all of the coverage and insight. It definitely helps the off-season go by faster. -

I don't think we'll carry all of Manning, Owens, Lacey, and Bell in 2026. I know who I'd bet on being the odd man out.
